Bad Bunny Ordered To Pay Millions To His Ex GF After Losing Legal Case At Court

Carliz de la Cruz has emerged victorious against her ex-partner, Bad Bunny, in the courts of Puerto Rico. The ruling favored her claim of unauthorized use of her voice in the songs of the Puerto Rican artist. The lawsuit, filed on March 1 of last year by Carliz de la Cruz Hernández herself, focused on copyright allegations. She contended that she recorded the phrase “Bad Bunny baby,” used in many songs by the singer. 

De la Cruz argued that she was entitled to fair compensation for the use of her vocal identity, demanding $40 million in return. Despite attempts by Bad Bunny’s legal team to escalate the case to a state level due to copyright concerns, De la Cruz, who is also a lawyer, opted to pursue the matter in Puerto Rico’s courts.  

According to the former partner of the “Soy Peor” artist, she recorded the chorus “Bad Bunny baby” on her cell phone at the request of the artist himself. This phrase first appeared in the song “Pa’ ti” and was later repeated in “Dos mil 16.” Bad Bunny continued to use Carliz’s voice in his concerts, thereafter, prompting a legal dispute. 
 

Furthermore, De La Cruz Hernández argued that the lack of consent in the use of her voice also warranted a claim for damages. Following the resolution of the lawsuit, the performer of “Monaco” will have to pay $40 million to his ex-partner, according to El Diario NY. So far, Bad Bunny has not publicly addressed or expressed his stance on the recent legal defeat at the hands of his ex-partner.  

It is said that Bad Bunny and Carliz maintained a relationship for over 5 years, even coming close to marriage before deciding to part ways in 2016. Despite their breakup, it has been revealed on several occasions that various songs by the “Conejo Malo” are inspired by her.
