Realistically, how do you expect LG7 to do on the charts?

Eh, maybe. I still think Joker is the biggest opportunity she’s gonna get.

I agree with this. An MCU or DC film comes with a lot broader exposure and potential for conversion metrics and new fans. My favorite moments are seeing her fans expand because of her sheer talent.

Isn't that what the JFAD soundtrack is for tho?

Imagine the punch of LG7 in the summer, then the soundtrack in the fall, Best Actress win in winter, tour starting spring

yes, it did especially compared to the way big pop girls have been debuting lately.. even Dua couldn't crack Chromatica's opening week

Like I said, it had one pretty good week and that’s it. In the long run it wasn’t anything special as far as its sales go. ASIB performed miles better.

I think her best shot is if the album veers rock and she get the organic success of the ASIB album with the Joker movie in close proximity

I think with the teasing from her, this feels like quality, classic, timeless music in the making.. The fanbase is already huge so initially, LG7 will reach the top unsurprisingly imo, and with the quality of music there would be chart longevity. Marketing wise, i feel like Gaga would not make an opportunity out of Joker 2 due to respect of art or her making sure that people just focus on one thing at a time... so that the fans really see the message of the film and not get bothered by other Gaga releases. But, if LG7 is related to Joker 2 (but still different from the soundtrack album)... then maybe she will promote LG7 alongside Joker 2, which is a marketing win.

Regardless, people are hungry for Gaga. She is very respectable, inspiring, talented, and is expected always to deliver something unexpected...So any Gaga album will win sufficiently, but her and her team and her label and her fan's efforts...will decide how bigger of a win they want this upcoming era to be. I do hope she promotes this era the old way still, tv and radio appearances and performances + more.

I think Gaga will have a #1 debut.

Also, Gaga's streaming numbers have completely changed in recent years and she's been getting some pretty good stream numbers as of late, especially when you take into consideration her last major release was nearly 5 years ago. Her songs keep taking off and going viral and getting decent traction so I wouldn't count her out by any means.

I’d love for LG7 to perform well in the charts, and I’m sure it will top billboard 200. However at the same time I care more for a timeless and very mature album that will be appreciated in the future. Based on her current mindset and the time she’s taking to create it, I have a feeling we’re about to receive just that, and I can’t wait. We’re at a time in pop culture where a song and album’s chart position really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. So many no 1’s are forgotten within months and won’t be discussed years from now. Gaga is respected and I believe whatever she puts out will have more impact in terms of longevity than in immediate chart success and records, and I’m 100% okay with this. While I didn’t have this mindset when I was younger, I find that I enjoy music so much more now that I don’t care about the success.

edit: I just looked at the billboard 100 top 5 and I can guarantee you no one will be singing any of those songs 5 years from now lol

No shade to Beyoncé but Cowboy Carter longevity is on the floor, the daily streams still haven't stabilized and are like around 7M (for a 27 tracks album) :enigma:

Concerning Gaga, no one can predict how people will like ot or not, let's wait and see. But we really should get in our mind promo will be at the best like Chromatica. No artist is pushing huge promo anymore

It’s not even platinum after all these years.

it moved +1M a long time ago... Interscope take their sweet time to update her stuff, they've done other countries like Brazil a few weeks ago so hopefully the US soon!

Depends on the competition really. I expect the lead to go top 5, followed by the second single potentially going top 3 on the album release week. I don’t see a 3rd single happening but I would love to see it :anveeroy:

the album will probably open with around 200k in the US (give or take 30k depending on the performance of the pre-album singles), and chart for 40 weeks or so. If she decides to release a deluxe somewhere down the line, it may push 60 weeks. In total it will move between 3 (at worst) and 5 (at best, unless she SMASHES unexpectedly) million units ww when all is said and done.

Unless Gaga serves a completely uninspired album (a la Britney Jean or MDNA) she’s not FLOPping. At worst it will be another Joanne :partysick:

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

I just checked Chartmasters. Chromatica is at 3.7 million sales. So it's def platinum. (Not in physical sales, of course. But not too many artists get that these days.)

Yeah, it’s  probably done a little over 1M in the US. Not horrible but nothing to write home about either. Lots and lots of albums do way more in smaller time frames.

I hope it performs well because if Gaga truly wants to be a music legend and not just a throwback artist, she needs consistent success like Madonna, Michael, Beyonce or even Britney at the time... Gaga had an explosive start but still needs more to establish himself as a true legend
