What makes her music important to social issues is that fact that a black woman of her standing commercially chose to use her platform to even speak up on the social issues going on in the world at the time and has remained consistent with it. Her personal touches are her vocal inflections, which evoke emotion into the song and quite literally working alongside to make sure the lyrics are in line with the messages she wants to convey to the masses.
I’m pretty certain her vocal runs are miles better than what Neyo’s are/were capable of which continues to go back to my original point.

But also, while people may not have ill intentions, jokes about black people being illiterate date back to slavery and are just not funny because by default they’re rooted in racism regardless of intent. Not outright calling anybody racist because then everybody gets offended, but at the same time these jokes have run stale and just come across as if there is an underlying bias beneath it all.
And I’m not sure if you are mentioning/shading Jolene & Blackbird, but not only do your vocal arrangements count towards songwriting bur obviously musical arrangements do as well and the two go hand in hand ; it’s a collaborative effort.

1 ) She's not the only black woman to speak about social issues. You have no idea what albums like Janet jacksons rhythm nation etc  did for black women. no one had to be cheated off their profits for that to happen. There was no perceived ingenuity in the creative process. Everyone got their appropriate recognition on that album.

2.) Beyonce is a talented singer but vocal runs are subjective. You can't say beyonce deserves credit for writing as opposed to others singers solely for her powerhouse vocals . she's not the only gifted singer, whitney could sing circles around her in her prime and often outsang the original performers of her songs but then again no one had to be cheated off their profits for that to happen.

3.)  Maybe i missed it so link the post or post a screenshot of someone calling or even alluding to Beyoncé  or any black person being illiterate on this thread. And I hope you aren't referring to people calling out her well known lack of songwriting abilities.

4.) I'm not shading her. Beyoncé adding harmonies to songs years after said song has been shopped around to different artists is not songwriting. It is a bad business practice that has survived over time because of lack of regulation.

It is very clear that the refusal to acknowledge consistently making jokes alluding to being unable to write at all for her songs is potentially rooted in unconscious bias is pointing more towards a stubbornness/arrogance so I believe we’re gonna have to agree to disagree.
As for your other points, see the end of the previous sentence diva. I hope you have a good day!

"She sent her team to work with Kacey" yet there are people who genuinely believe that Beyonce is the mastermind behind all her songs because she has writing credits along 70 other people per album lol

Siiiiiiigh

this again.

if you have a problem just move tf on. It’s sooooo tired. We get it. You wanna harp on a point that is so unimportant. We get it. Take your Ws and move tf on. Lord above this is such a tired thing to read.

The thread is an interesting bit of fan news to talk about and you had to come in with the most petty, negative, and simultaneously blasé comment possible that’s been raked over like an October leaf pile. We get it by now. She’s not Leonard Cohen. Do you want your medal now? Your Pulitzer Prize for such a hard-hitting, fact finding exposé? Well there you go. You’ve got it. You won the race you were the only person to enter a horse in. Clap clap clap for youuuuuuuuu.

Didn't she get called out for like the 100th time like a few weeks before CC debuted for habitually keeping publishing cheques when ideally those are supposed to go to the songs writers?

I dunno, I don't really follow Bey

Y’all gotta realize beyonce earns her credits for writing from a composition standpoint when it comes to her melodies and harmonies. Her vocal agility is unmatched in the music industry and that’s where she gets her writing credits. Every time they bring up her song writing people go straight to drags related to lyricism. Songwriting consists of both Lyrics & Composition as two separate components.

Her vocal agility isn’t unmatched, there are so many singers just as vocally agile as her if not more. If you think her vocals are unmatched then you don’t listen to enough music. Ariana Grande, Whitney Houston, Celine, & Mariah are all more vocally agile than Beyonce with stronger runs, more control over power, & the amount of octaves they’re able to hit. That doesn’t take away from what Beyonce does bring to the table though.

They brought valid points to the table but instead of addressing those points you make a fallacious argument that they’re racist through unconscious bias though they very clearly addressed that claim in their reply. It’s clear that you are very consciously employing Trump-esque tactics to avoid any real exchange with @RenegAde who is clearly armed with more knowledge than you.

Honestly I’m choosing to disengage as I’ve called out the casual racism by users on this website over the course of some years and it’s always met with the same arrogance & deflection.

Janet Jackson is wonderful but its 2024 and Beyonce is here and now, and she is using her platform to spread awareness the way that others (Taylor Swift I’m looking at you) refuse to do - by addressing the flawed system in the US that disadvantages black voices. Not negating anything Janet has ever done, I’m simply saying that in today’s day Beyonce is the bigger artist commercially and is using her platform for good.

Maybe it bothers you idk, but Vocal runs are notes. Notes add to the melody. The melody is apart of the composition of the song, thus she has contributed to the song from the writing standpoint of the song through the sheet music.
The running gag over the years of beyonce not being capable to write any music and stealing credits is rooted in racism. While you may not actively be consciously making these jokes with racist intent, the principle and fact of the matter is that historically black people have been stereotyped as thieves and being illiterate for years. These jokes further perpetuate these stereotypes, regardless of intent.
In renegade’s last point, they mentioned some BS mess about Beyonce taking writing credits on an old song (mind you, Dolly introduced the rendition of her song so idk where this is even coming from lmao) which refers back to my statement above.

Idc who sends goons after me to quote me, but this is the last time I’m responding to this thread or either of you two users - I know that this is just going to be an endless back and forth with people who don’t want to accept that they have internalized bias. Again divas - have a wonderful evening or day! :river:
