Omg. Maybe the social commentary is that even though Harley is more put together on the surface than Joker was. She is attractive, maybe she’s even intelligent and articulate, she is still not enough to be accepted by society. The rejection is what exasperates her mental decline. Society is fundamentally flawed and fails even those who might actually have a shot at self fulfillment if they were only given a chance.
