Arizona Reinstates 160-Year-Old Abortion Ban

The state’s highest court said the law, passed in 1864 when Arizona was a territory and moribund for decades under Roe v. Wade, was now enforceable.

The ruling was focused on a law on the books long before Arizona achieved statehood. It outlaws abortion from the moment of conception, except when necessary to save the life of the mother, and it makes no exceptions for rape or incest. Doctors prosecuted under the law could face fines and two to five years in prison.

This could push Arizona in Biden’s favour. The polls are noticeably moving in Biden’s direction whereas Trump is making no new ground, wouldn’t surprise me if this continues to happen as the election comes close and the backward reality of Trump part 2 becomes more and more apparent.

It’s almost surely going to happen. Biden’s bad polls in the past year are pretty normal, and with issues like abortion continuing to be a major issue. Especially in swing states, it’s just going to push his numbers up. I am curious to see how abortion on the ballot in Florida will affect his numbers

Don’t want an abortion? Don’t get one. Simple.

The party of “freedom” sure does like restrict what people have been able to freely do.

I have posted this quote many times but it’s so true:

“Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're f cked.”

-George Carlin

I think there is a state where you cannot get an abortion in a different state if that is your homestate. I love the argument “Well if gambling is illegal in your home state, should you be allowed to gamble if you go to Las Vegas?”

Yeah abortion is going to play a massive factor in the 2024 cycle, just like it did when it turned the predicted 2022 Red Wave into a Red droplet.
Not surprising Trump's ended up in a mini spat this week with the ultra-pro lifers in the GOP because he's tried to take a "smarter" position

Great point about Florida, there’s rumours Biden’s camp genuinely think the state is in play, I genuinely believe Trump and MAGA morons messing with women and underestimating how they can swing elections will be their downfall and rightfully so this time around.

Let’s face it, even MAGA supporting women who have at least some common sense will be bricking it and the issues it would cause should they get pregnant. I think some will sly vote Dem because of it.

It's crazy that they are citing something from the 1860's as justification for a law, yet when a Civil War era ammendment is cited to try to keep Trump off the ballot...
