Joy Behar has proved to be a beacon of feminism :stalkga:

Dolly being vulnerable and self aware in Jolene is ultimate feminism.

Given Joy's first husband left her for his side piece, this is not a surprise

Everything nowadays has to fit into a label and it’s so ridiculous.

Both songs aside, the narrative is a woman feeling vulnerable and insecure about another woman entering her relationship.

How is it anti-feminist to sing about honest experiences women (and all humans) experience of no fault of their own?

Constant division.

I am extremely tired from all this woke talking :saladga: why can’t a classic song be a classic and people will leave it alone with their stupid opinions. We are talking about an old song, obviously it’s gonna have different morals in it, in this case no one’s getting hurt.

Thanks!! Modern feminism is so mean spirited imo and this was just one exhibit. We’re disrespecting the classics now because they’re not in line with woke ideology. I swear the world was a much better place before all this woke washing none sense. Not everything has to be so deep and overthought.

The beauty of the original is Dolly's vulnerability and realness. It was the way a lot of women would have reacted back then. I'm sure if she wrote the song today, it would sound very different. And considering she's the only writer of the new version, I guess she already did. I really like the new version, it gives the singer all the power, which is crucial in making sure the side piece doesn't get what she wants. There's also an unfortunate theme in music of late to glamorise cheating and this re-write takes that away especially with the line "I raised his kids," which provides a very heavy reminder to anyone who thinks it's ok to mess around with a married man that you are deeply upsetting and unsettling an entire family and could potentially ruin a family's entire lives if it's found out.

Okay so does anyone know who's "my man" of Dolly Parton?

I need context before judging  🤡

One old white woman complaining on a tv show where people get paid to say deliberately inflammatory views is not "woke"

Jolene is a special song because its honest, without moralizing ones feelings.

I see alot of people disturbed by songs like Jolene because they want everything to fit into their ideal political ideological bubble even if its not realistic.
