Shakira, 47, is dating British actor Lucien Laviscount, 31, after falling for the actor while they were starring in her new music video - however her latest romance has sparked concern among her friends, who fear he is only in it for the fame.

'Shakira is desperate to fall in love – but her friends are concerned because Lucien has slowly crept his way up the celebrity ladder while dating women who were all less famous than Shakira,' a source said

'The women he has been with are all very different. Now he is seeing Shakira - and she wants love.

'But her friends fear he just wants people to know his name and she provides that. They are seeing each other but are not heavily involved yet.'

They claimed that she is 'not over her ex' Gerard Piqué and that everyone around her 'knows that Lucien is a rebound.'

'She is dating someone who they fear is a player and she is going to get burned,' they finished.

The pair were pictured enjoying dinner at Italian restaurant Carbone in New York City last week.

Prior to Shakira, Lucien was linked to former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona.  He was also later rumored to be dating ex-Little Mix member Jesy Nelson after photos of them kissing made their way to social media

Shakira, who struck a last-minute deal with Spanish prosecutors to avoid jail for tax fraud last year, was with her ex Gerard for 11 years until their split in the summer of 2022.
