Sure but she is definitely more explicitly leaning into them over the past few years. Like bjork never really acknowledged it in such a…conscious way prior to the last couple of years and I wonder what spurred that on. Her eras were always more…organic. Like fossora felt for the first time like she consciously considered the image she was inhabiting whereas every other album felt like it quite naturally came about during the process. She even said herself in most cases she didn’t really see what these images were until well after the fact, that is until fossora where she came *into it with the image and the music together

Yeah, I agree there has been a shift in the way she approaches her visuals, but to me it started much earlier than Fossora. I feel like Biophilia up until now has been a very organic evolution, even in her fashion, the way she’s experimented with face masks in the past 10 years. I don’t really feel how Fossora sets itself apart from the rest as much as you do.

A piece of art that isn’t aesthetically pleasing isn’t necessarily bad. But I agree she shouldn’t believe the criticism comes only from the fact she isn’t on the cover. She obviously knows it tho, she made those aesthetic choices knowing it would irk people off.

I definitely see those parts you’re talking about! I guess I more or less mean how she markets the image. I think fossora she talked about image and character a LOT compared to previous eras in the press buildup

Good sis is walking around half naked to basically every event, and complaining about people demanding to see women body on album covers.

I don’t mind the cover album (I actually find it cool) or whatever she’s wearing, but just stop bullsh*tting around with all these nonsense :trollga:

Tell me you don’t know what misogyny is without telling me you know what misogyny is.

I know what misogyny is, and there’s nothing misogynistic about people hatin’ on the cover album, it’s taking one thing and making another thing out of it, the one true problem of woke culture I guess.

Gurl…. Björk invented eras.

Is this sarcasm? :poot:

Didn't Björk's first album come out in the 90s? Artists like MJ and Madonna were pulling eras before that. Others before them too.

You guys are missing the point. It's the 'brattiest' move she could've made. It's punk.

I think it's just ugly and lazy :poot:

But this is coming from someone who loves Swine at SXSW so what do I know

I'm just like 🧍‍♂️

Oh no, I was talking about your comment specific :). Wearing however little clothes she wants to has NOTHING to do with this situation and bringing it up is Misogynistic (:

Just my way of saying she’s always worked that way. Everything isn’t about a **** contest, of course she’s not the first and only artist to have done that.

I don't like the cover but I appreciate what she's doing with it. It looks like an album that came out in 1996 by an edgy indie act. It's a rave album, it's called Brat and she's heavily inspired by the 90's, it's all perfect. And while I think 'misogynistic' is too strong a word, she makes an interesting point that we only focus on heavily critiquing female artists album covers. If any of them do anything different, there's definitely a subtle sense of "you've got a pretty face and a great body, why don't you show it?" We have become used to seeing women's bodies being used to their full advantage to sell music for decades, it throws us when they take another route but never critique men for this and that really tells you something about society.
