Harry Potter adults are the same as Disney adults and both groups deserve to be laughed at.

Keep in mind, this is the woman that said this. She’s very clearly leaning into the absurdity of her wording and the irony of someone from the HP universe saying this for comedic effect.

Eh, I honestly think people need to stop giving strangers undue power. Randos online have no authority in your life. Period.

I mean - I agree. But not everyone has thick skin to be unbothered when they’re feeling made fun of 🤷‍♂️  I guess I just sympathize with people who are shamed for being who they are or liking what they like

i understand what @ItsCaseyPaul ‘s point is comparing it to being shamed for being queer lol. And I don’t think that user was equating the 2 topics “literally” and saying there’s no difference. The equalizing denominator is just people being shamed by others, which is the point I think they’re making

but anyway, bye everyone this is getting hostile in here I’m just tryna converse 🫨

Why are we judging another fandom while we are in a website about another fandom?

Im not into HP or anything but they actually have like a whole universe and games and books to go off of. We have Lady Gaga, a pop singer and we obsess about her outfits and her life and her music. So... i feel like we are more delulu to actually obsess about a human woman compared to a world meant to be fictional in the first place. :ladyhaha:

To each their own in the fandom world and do not judge!

I get it, I just honestly think that developing a thick skin about this kind of **** is necessary and also that her tone here was intended to be comedic. If she were actually being a monster about this, I’d be more apt to sympathize, but I honestly just think she’s exaggerating for comedic effect and that’s it.

That’s like saying gay people can just go about pretending homophobia doesn’t exist.

we have every right to call out something that is rude and unnecessary because completely ignoring it won’t make it go away

Funnily enough, it's nothing like homophobia.

You walk down the street as a holding your partners hand and you can get stabbed in most countries.
You walk down the street in a Gryffindor sweatshirt and people will walk past you.

I doubt this. She's deeply disconnected from the franchise and doesn't think much of if as she has stated herself. Nonetheless she decided to make this statement without any proper knowledge besides her being in a "children's movie". She wanted to come off as mean and she did.

But still, let's not give her any validity :billie:

I think being unable to take extremely gentle ribbing from a noted comedic figure is pretty indicative of the maturity level of a certain group of people who seem to be unable to move past IP they enjoyed as a child and have folded that enjoyment into their identity as a person.

Eh I don't know about this. Life is depressing as ****. If people use fantasy to escape it all and it isn't hurting anyone then what's the issue?

This tbh

Let people do their weird things and if it bothers you then maybe try being less bitter about the world, people, and life in general

I've never read HP or seen a movie past the Chamber of Secrets but I'd go to a HP wedding! It was fun finding the little magic areas in the HP zone of Universal Hollywood too

You're stinky
