Oh please. Let’s not. It’s just the same dance music with different arrangements.

But it's not? So you're just tired of her going for similar tempos? That's understandable, but that doesn't mean they're all the same songs.

I think Dua did well in 2020 because there wasn't much going on anyways. Her music was easily digestible and people just needed something to distract them. It was fun music, and it still is fun music. But fun music has saturated the market, and now people are turning back to the artists they love. Dua never capitalized on her spotlight in order to build a fanbase and it's showing now, that's it aside for the fact she runs every song at the same tempo when she needs to slow it down too. I think she would really shine with some vulnerability in a slow song. And then promoted it by speaking on her experience in interviews. She needs people to relate to her, not just be distracted from x catastrophe by her.

They look irritated in that photo, probably having been told to scrap DL3 and start over because Houdini and Training Season went nowhere as far as whatever success they were hoping to match with the FN era singles.

They all look like they aren't enjoying themselves.

I was going to say this. It must be very frustrating to have the album ready and to then be sent back to the studio because your label is not happy with how the singles are performing :littlepotter:

Genuinely think Tame Impala is cursed.
Like the only pop singles he's produced have been Find U Again, Houdini, Training Season & Perfect Illusion and none of them did that well...

I personally think Kevin Parker's sound only works for Kevin Parker. His sound is so aesthetically him. I dunno, it's hard to explain.

I think Gaga knew that too which is why they chose to strip 'perfect illusion' down because otherwise it'd be more like Tame Impala ft. Lady Gaga.

I do agree, never really felt like his production work has been diverse enough to adapt to different artists.

I think if pop acts want a more psychedelic sound they'd be better off working with Oracular Spectacular era MGMT, Caroline Polachek or Goldfrapp.

Houdini and Training Season are both great songs to me. I think I like them better than FN.

to me personally, it sounds cohesive with her sound but distinct from FN. if that makes sense. i’m not a DL defender but i just don’t think they sound from the same album. :franminervini:

I think his production on Perfect Illusion was great and super interesting. The song writing and melody is the issue imo

Mess. I hope they’re not being too greedy expecting Dua to top Future Nostalgia success. She has done that, let the girl make the music she wants right now.

Meanwhile Billie just finished mixing her new album and they put it on hold til it’s time to release the lead single. But then again Billie has sweeped the Grammys, on her way to her 2nd Oscar and can sell tickets like pancakes. She really does have 100% creative freedom to do what she pleases.

Well idk at the end of the day they are contracts. More than judge this decision, ID judge this type of contracts. Lets not forget this is art. I think this puts artists in a situation where creativity is almost soffucate in order to create "the right" song

kindest regards

No shade because I actually think Houdini is doing great as a hit. But knowing her label was in 'we want another FN smash album' mode, I'd say they are unhappy with the reception of her new music.

That would explain why still no announcement for DL3 release date and title

Poor Dua

These Label games are horrific

Houdini is a bop, Training Season is also okay but not a single

I believe everyone is involved in taking this step on going back to recording studio again. Even Dua herself.

Early in the DL3 era, her management have stated that they and Dua are very ambitious more than ever, that they aimed to change pop culture

They look unhappy in the picture probably because they were shooked that the two singles doesn't get reception that they wished for from the public and media alike.
