Also, magazine shoots are very different to single covers. In the former, you are usually surrendering to someone else's vision in the first place. Nudity is not vulgar by default. Tacky sexual suggestion is, especially when void of a point. I don't know what she was trying to communicate with that cover, there may well be a point to it.

Take Gaga's Do What U Want single cover, which was her as s in a thong if I remember well. It wasn't my fave cover but I don't necessarily see it as vulgar b/c it highlights the message of the song in a smart tho ostentatious way.

I'm sorry but this is an absurd statement again, coming from a Gaga fan when how much skin has she shown over the years? How many times has she simulated intercourse when performing on stage? How many times has she had her whole *** out for the public to see? And yet the line is drawn when Beyoncé, who isn't even showing anything more than what you would see at most public beaches in the world, shows skin? Suddenly she is serving country **** star??? And on top of that, you have the gall to defend the R. Kelly single imagery in all of this? Enlighten me what the issue is or the hypocrisy of not liking a particular picture? I truly am not following where your outrage is trying to lead me 

We are dealing with taste here, not logic. Of course I am biased b/c I am a gaga fan, but I am a gaga fan b/c my taste is (mostly) in line with hers. Tbh, and I am sure this will come as a huge surprise, I am not really a Beyonce fan. I am not a hater, I just don't always *vibe*. This single cover is one such instance.

If you want to point to what you think I am missing, I'd love to hear it, otherwise thank you and good night.

I think it’s clear that she’s not just trying to “fit in” with country girls; she wants to reclaim the genre by adding the influences of *her life: fashion, hip hop, sensuality, etc.

I think it’s kind of bland compared to other artwork she’s done over the last few years (the Renaissance cover, for instance, is exceptional) but it’s a single cover, nothing more. Shes very clearly being BEYONCÉ regardless of the genre and I commend her for that.

its not “vulgar”, to me. It’s just her showing her body. Even the pose is fairly by the numbers lmao as for age…well that’s just ageist lol as she herself said, “if you got flaunt it!” and the it she’s got is moxie and confidence to spare (since you can really be hot in any body shape). like i’ll do the research for the artist that i’m sure beyoncé is trying to reference esp in terms of reclaiming the genre for black artists and i can guarantee u their music was much more profane than her picture i can almost guarantee the lyrics they sang to what i hope beyoncé is inspired by is v much in ur face but subtle and ig that’s the issue is u we’re hoping for more subtlety but that’s just new country at least in america because it’s washed down and digestible
