I used to intern at a radio station (briefly in college), and we’d usually get promo releases and instructions/recommendations from the corporate level, who had actually coordinated with the record company who to play.

the only time we wouldn’t take a request was if we didn’t have the promo track, or if our corporate team asked we not play it til X date.

I’m sure this has changed to an extent but I would have expected Bey’s record company to coordinate with expected audiences accordingly.

Country fans don't like Beyonce, Beyonce fans don't like country... idk what this move was from her, did she really think she was gonna win over all the pee-paws and mee-maws with that?

Who says she's trying win anybody over ?. She's making good music that needs to be made and thats all that matters. Also, i never understood people that couldn't recognise good music despite their disdain for a particular genre.

Mathew Knowles recently spoke about her label not backing when it's time for grammy politics

Besides, how dare she star in that spot about "breaking the internet" when the spot barely got 500k views and the songs just surpassed 1M more than a whole day after they were released lmao

I think it’s because it’s not truly country because the melody is R&B mostly still. It doesn’t have the tinge or flavour of country music really.

Ok this had me curious so I called a local country music station and was on hold forever but was told they don’t have Beyoncé’s music in their official rotation but would play it if they were sent the release to be added to their rotation.

this sounds like music record label politics, not racist radio dj’s.

That's what I also thought. People are so quick to call racism and such, but neglect the facts that perhaps the radio station was not even sent the song to begin with.
