Watch him meet Gaga or Madonna one day and you know he will be all up their ass saying how genius they are, how they inspired and helped him and everything :reductive:

You clearly mistook his quote.

It's giving shouting at a brick wall. Does anyone actually care this day in age? It's been done countless times.

I love how people are like "does anyone care" "does it have any impact anymore" etc etc and yet there's multiple threads on here alone debating the single & the artistry of the music video etc before it's even out. Nevermind the discussions on other socials.

Like clearly people do care & it is obviously having its impact. If they didn't & it wasn't, none of us would be talking about it.

The word impact have been so misused and over used by the stan culture so much. But people really need to understand that discussions ≠ impact. As impact often times only comes with time. Lots of subjects been hot topics before, would you call them to have impact? Cos lots of them are now fell into irrelevancy. Or in other words, a 15 minutes of fame. Such as Bhad Babie & Rebecca Black, for example.

Gaga & Madonna did camp & religious imagery before him, why he is so dismissive, he need to have more respect.

Discussions generated in the moment absolutely is impact. You're drawing a distinction to short-term impact vs long-term impact. Short-term impact is still impact.

In the promotion of a single ahead of an album, you don't want a legacy you want immediate impact. The long term considerations come once the single is a hit.

The fact is, there's been multiple threads on here - almost a thread per tweet by Nas on some days - about a single that we only just got our first snippet of today. The fact that a site with a dedicated pop culture forum is having multiple thread on the single shows that the marketing is working and the marketing is having an impact. Which is the sole purpose of it. Hype (Positive & Negative) is clearly building in seeing what the actual end product is. From a PR perspective, the roll-out is going perfectly and is guaranteeing that casual fans, randomers & haters will watch that video the day it drops. Because at this point people are invested - whether thats because they're a fan or a hater.

As for Bhad Babie & Rebecca Black, they may be "irrelevant" now - but if they had no impact why do people still recognise their name 10 years later.

Gaga and Madonna are all about artistry.

This Nas kid is just about gimmicks, and it's boring and cringe. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if the music had personality.

I understand what he’s trying to say but “idgaf what they did” does not sound right tbh.

That’s exactly what people said about Gaga when she first started. Like, how do you not see the irony?
