It seems that German(ic)/ Central European countries prefer more bare costumes, while the rest of Europe + Latin America prefer more colorful and artistically complex pieces - somehow I am not surprised :max:

Pretty dark and depressing compared to all those colourful outfits I see here.

It's has pretty much died out and isn't really worn for cermonies or holiday festivities either. I do love the intricate lace headress or 'knipmuts'.

In my little town there's a specific knitted pattern, originally gloves, but these days also hats, scarves and sweaters. It's really tricky to knit so not many people don't know how.
