There is nothing “tbf” about this language and the threat it poses. Its entire intent was to provoke and incite. Wtf? People like Trump, and history, depend on comments such as this one. Well Nazi Germany came about because the public felt disillusioned with the Weimar government. The parallels are possibly there but had the German population not suffered from significant decreases in quality of life, they may not have bought into the fascist illusion and given the Nazis the stepping stone to take full control and eventually go against the will of the people. I feel that when readers see this messaging, they go straight on the warpath of trying to swat propaganda rather than trying to understand the root cause. I get it but it’s clearly not worked that well and just creates more labelling and division. I’m not saying the messaging is bad and I feel illegal immigrants are being unfairly used as a scapegoat but technically illegal immigrants are essentially breaking the law and providing ammo for the far right. Ultimately the government should be investing time and communications into tougher practices against illegal immigration, that may include more lenient legal pathways. He could just give out data on immigration and the negative effects of illegal immigration, instead of using fear tactics and ignorant verbage. Legal immigration is time consuming for sure, but it is a controlled process. Illegal immigration is the problem. It drains services, leading to overspending. It also leads to over population in areas that don’t have the infrastructure- which leads to infrastructure and housing becoming sparse, leading to higher rent. It really leads to much bigger issues. Yeah and while I dont support being too harsh on illegal immigration, we have to acknowledge that its an issue, and we need to control it. There are three groups potentially at risk: "Anchor babies": that is children of illegal immigrants, who are usually considered U.S citizens. But Conservatives are pushing a different interpretation of the 14th amendment that I suspect could be upheld by this conservative SC. "Naturalized immigrants": Naturalized immigrants can have their citizenship revoked if they are believed to have lied on their application. I'll give you one example, say for example someone was naturalized and then voices support for a terrorist group or a country that America considers as a terrorist-sponsor state, then they can use that information to rescind citizenship. "Legal and Illegal Immigrants": Under a Trump-controlled USCIS, they should expect everything. Their applications can be denied for the most ridiculous reasons possible and they'll still have little to no recourse. Who's 100% protected: Children of American Citizens or legal residents. Nothing Trump can do to revoke their citizenship. My question is what happens to american born babies who are deported? Would they become citizenshipless? Cuz of if their parents Nation doesnt give them citizenship either? Also... every Nation wants a younger demographic. How stupid can you be to wanna deport young kids

TEANUS 16,141
It’s not really a secret that the border in the US is a huuuuuge problem right now. It’s a haven for sex and human trafficking right now if nothing else because of the lack of resources. His wording and framing of the issue itself is dangerous because it takes attention away from the actual issue and makes anyone who takes this comment seriously look at it an entirely different, bigoted way. This has always been his problem, any actual feasible, good idea that he had was clouded by his framing of said issue for the far-right and lack of intellectual wording. He takes it a step too far in terms of blaming and stereotyping and the bigots take it and run w it. But it’s a shame that his comments will only strengthen people on either end who are actually quite uneducated either way. Bigots will say “exactly, let no one in” and far-left progressives will say “they’re all humans, f*ck you, let them all in”, both missing the point. HIM820 1,874
Immigration is an interesting topic to help dissect the ideologies of the left vs the right because it's changed throughout history. I am pretty sure in most countries it was the left leaning leaders who initially opposed mass immigration. They are usually the politicians who were closely associated with the unions, which of course had problems with cheap labor replacing them and undercutting any bargaining tools they had used before. The right, who has historically been closer with the corporations and businesses, would welcome this cheap labor. Now a lot has switched publicly, but I'd believe similar sentiments are expressed in private meetings etc. Trump is doing something neither party in the US has done, for awhile at least, which is just riling up a base using inflammatory language and personal opinions. The businesses who have donated to his campaign don't actually want illegal immigration to stop or be regulated. But he doesn't care, because he wants to convince us that he isn't working with those guys. He's on our side right? - which worked for a lot of voters in the past elections. They just don't realize that Trump's party, and the one they've spent years voting for, also helped get us here. Notice how corporations really don't have a problem with mass immigration? Because it only benefits them in the long run.

What Trump wants is horrible, but also what Democrats want is also horrible for the country. The problem is these nutjobs' solution is to build a wall, booby trap the border, deport people by the millions regardless of how long they've been here, revoke birth right citizenship, strike down DACA, deem every undocumented migrant a danger to American society, deem their children "anchor babies", make it demonstrably more difficult to immigrate to the US, and cover up any deaths or violence migrants face once they get here. It's blatantly racist and cruel. Don't even entertain it or say "well, he's partially right because ___", 'cause no he isn't and f*ck him for it. The only argument I ever see against illegal immigration is that they "feed off the system". Let 'em, I say. 'Cause they're feeding their kids, working, and contributing to society as opposed to billionaire leeches that take, take, take, and take some more and don't give a damn thing back to any of us. I'll take a million "illegal aliens" over a single billionaire. At least they're human. Anyway, the solution is simple and it's one that Biden seems to be attempting to achieve, despite the Republican controlled house voting against it. Beef up the ability for border control and other immigration services to process people. Extra surveillance, more ports of entry that are both well known and generously staffed. Extra security where needed, barriers where allowed and applicable (meaning don't tear up ecological preservation laws or confiscate private land to build some stupid wall that doesn't work). It's not as complicated as people like to pretend it is. When you have an immigration "problem", you don't make it harder to come in legally. You just make sure you document who is coming, where they're from, why they're here, where they're going, and move on to the next person. The US is uniquely constructed out of this enormous mashup of cultures from across time and the globe. When we have bodies floating in the river because Texas set up booby traps to ensnare asylum seekers or thousands of dead migrants lost in Arizona's deserts because they feared being turned away or harmed, we've failed as a nation. MAGAts should be required to visit La Plaza de Culturas y Artes in LA to try and spark any level of humanity or empathy within their tiny frozen hearts.
