If he wins, that means that more Republicans turned out more than Democrats, so he'll like control the house and senate too.  Presidential elections usually win all 3.  It's the midterms where the other party usually takes control of the house and/or senate.  

Because of the electoral college and the way some states draw their districts it's not always like that, but it usually is.

So the content isn’t wrong but the wording is a bit divisive.

Its one thing to debate managing or reforms to the immigratiom system in a way that doesnt casually let just anyone in, to control flows etc.

But Trumps rehtoric has never been very much about being orderly or more efficient or selective etc. Its always been a racist rehtoric where he portrays immigrants in general as being druggies and rapists and criminals and makes it so personal

 

And the whole wall thing is another example. He wants to keep illegals out so bad that hes willing to spend more money and resources on a solution than the cost of the problems illegals might bring (for the sake of the argument lets assume the wall was highly effective cuz even thats debatable)

 

If u go for such a terrible cost to benefit ratio... its not about being pragmatic about how to handle immigration, it shows u have a distaste for them that u wanna keep them out at all costs

I agree with your post in general, however to be fair, I don't believe this part here is factual.

The cost of illegal immigration is definitely higher than the cost of a physical barrier. And by the way this is something acknowledged even by democrats. The democratic mayor of NYC for example announced deep cuts to his budget to be able to house illegal immigrants.

Just yesterday the democratic governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, acknowledged that it's a big problem and sent the national guard to the border, and she noted in her executive order the the economy of the State needs to be "saved" because the federal government is not taking action. Yes, a Democrat literally doing what Democrats were claiming was "alarmism" and "unnecessary" just few years ago. 

Katie Hobbs is probably eying a run in 2028 and she knows democrats are being killed on this issue, but still.

Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that illegal immigration costs the U.S 150 billion dollars every year. No wall will ever come close to that figure. You'd have to build it with gold. Even if we assume that such figure is somehow inflated by 500%, physical barriers would still be cheaper.

Another House Report puts the figure at 450B$ but I'll take it with a grain of salt since it's coming from GOP-controlled House.

In my view, in opposing the wall, Democrats were opposing more the racist rhetoric accompanying this Trump campaign pledge rather than the efficiency of the measure itself. They've been long supportive of physical barriers in the past. And Biden is actually expanding them as we speak. It's just that Trump attached racism to it.
