Surprising Gaga Single Choices?

What singles from Gaga surprised you??

I remember hearing Alejandro on the radio for the first time and I was SHOOK and THRILLED because it was my fav song from TFM.

i remember thinking marry the night was an odd choice for a single tbh.

i was also very pleasantly surprised GUY got the recognition I believed it deserved ! That being said, I think there were signed documents between she and Zedd that at least one of his tracks would get single treatment.

they weren’t proper singles, but I thought John Wayne and 911 getting music videos was very rightfully deserved as well, as they are some of the best of the album!

which single choices surprised you?? Good or bad lol

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

911 because I was 200% sure Babylon and Sour Candy were meant to have music videos. :rip:

GUY of course. We thought she was done with ARTPOP but Gypsy was also right there and even during album release the facebook page showed the cover “featuring Applause, Do What U Want and Gypsy”.

You and I because she wasn’t gonna include it on the album in the first place. Then we had a poll and Scheiße was the clear winner.

I was also surprised Alejandro was picked as 3rd single and not Dance In The Dark. I remember both songs getting released as promo singles at the same time but then removed so I thought DITD was a stronger song but still happy to see what she did with Alejandro and it was HER choice.

I wasnt a fan yet during the fame era (started stanning in tfm) but looking back "eh eh" feels so out of place with the other singles, kinda surprising considering the theme of the album.

By the way, kind of off topic but what is more surprising to me is how she cut the chromatica era short. She could've released two more singles at least.

gaga, halsey, lorde, taylor, dua

Agreed but sadly she hasn’t released more than 3 official singles for an album since BTW :(

I remember being shook when she announced You and I was her next single. That sound was pretty different for her & what was on the radio at that time. I also recalled her mentioning in an interview a few months prior that You and I would probably never be a single for that reason. Guess she changed her mind and thank god for that bc it's one of my fav songs

Alejandro- so unconventional

Born This Way-this was a risk that paid off well, helped that it was the lead

You And I- just very WEIRD for Gaga to release this, but its a great song!

Perfect Illusion- very surprising release...

Million Reasons- Im still surprised at its success, beautiful song but again, VERY unconventional for Gaga

Stupid Love- so... beneath her, but whatevs!

Why are you all surprised/saying MTN or GUY? They were very single worthy tracks and had potential.

Yes I remember she wasn’t sure if the song would be on the album and she said it wouldn’t be a single! How the tables turned.

i think it ended up being a great single

Stupid Love as the lead for Chromatica was a weird choice, because it doesn’t really represent the overall sound of the album. Perfect Illusion was weird too, but I love how uncommercial that choice was, whereas with SL it felt like they chose the safest radio friendly track on Chromatica.
