Shadow 6,697
I drove through LA once at night in 2009 and was still stuck in traffic for hours. How do people in LA get anywhere on time? Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

Unless you absolutely have no choice. For instance, I'm heading to San Diego for TDay and leaving late this evening.)
Lucas 31,097
I know this would be max expensive and take a long time but can't they do something to make the problem less bad? It seems awful lol

It seems awful lol They don‘t want to, the only solution to relieve traffic congestion in big cities is attractive public transport and making cities attractive for pedestrians. And that would hurt the hugely powerful car industry, that is making BILLIONS of profit off of American cities being unliveable. LA has built a metro, but from what I heard, it is incredibly dangerous to be in there, and the routing of the metro seems to be quite inconvenient (it‘s a star-shaped system of lines, where you have to ride the metro into downtown to change, no matter where you go), there‘s very little connectivity between the neighborhoods themselves. For things like Thanksgiving/Holidays, where a lot of people would go home, having comfortable, fast and affordable Intercity train transit would relieve traffic congetions a lot as well. California does have a project to connect it‘s cities, but car manufacturers, especially Elon Musk, have lobbied heavily against it and caused delays by several years. They would also need to create reliable and consistent rail options for surrounding metro areas like San Diego, Vegas, and Phoenix since there’s a lot of people leaving LA altogether to visit family. In short, not gonna happen in our lifetime. 9 hours ago, Supersonic said: LA has built a metro, but from what I heard, it is incredibly dangerous to be in there Saw a man beating his meat on the A line, a man eating scabs from an open wound on the D line, and a woman having a full conversation with her reflection on the B line…

Europe is doing everything to modernise the public transport, expansions and so on. Lots of pedestrian crossings in major cities. Also Europe tends to ban cars in the city centre. It’s just weird American infrastructure problem.
