Tom Cruise Stood By CAA Agent Who Got Fired For Palestine Statement

Across town, the agency’s fiercest rival, CAA, was dealing with a crisis. Maha Dakhil, one of its top agents, had ignited a firestorm with her Instagram posts, including one that said, “What’s more heartbreaking than witnessing genocide? Witnessing the denial that genocide is happening.” In response, Dakhil was relieved of her duties as co-chief the motion pictures department, though she was allowed to remain an agent. It didn’t hurt that her most important client, Tom Cruise, made it known to CAA that he was backing her. Cruise met with Dakhil at her CAA office on Nov. 15. A knowledgeable source says he took the rare step of going in person to show support for his embattled agent.

But the Dakhil issue didn’t end there. A group of CAA assistants threatened to walk out over the agency’s treatment of her, sources say. They believed she was being railroaded by management but ultimately abandoned their threat. At the same time, some of the agents who complained internally about Dakhil’s posts felt disillusioned, believing she should have been fired. Separately, CAA cut ties with a staffer and two clients over incendiary anti-Israeli social media posts.

Similar instances of firings, finger-pointing and feelings of betrayal are playing out across Hollywood as the industry wrestles with the raw emotions aroused by the eruption of violence in the Middle East.

From power brokers to the rank and file, a growing number are incensed by the hostile rhetoric surrounding Israel and the lack of solidarity, even as some 240 hostages continue to be held by Hamas. Others feel a kinship with the Palestinian cause and believe Israel is the aggressor. The polarization is notable because the industry has largely presented a united front when it comes to politics, from its blanket opposition to former President Trump to its uniform support of reproductive rights. But when it comes to Israel, the cracks are showing.

How ****ed you gotta be for Tom Cruise to be on the right side of history

He's a paradox.....part of an evil cult but allegedly has been there for people behind the scenes for years. He paid everyone on set for MI, even when they had to take a seven month break for COVID-19 and a lot of studios weren't paying out at the time, and then allegedly gave them "extra" money to deal with the pandemic.

Basically, a reminder that people are complicated and rarely 100% evil or good.

I've never understood the hate towards Tom Cruise? I know he's a Scientologist but to me that's no different than a person being a member of another faith.

Scientology is supposedly a cult but Christianity has done more harm than good if we look back at history.

Tom Cruise is a high ranking member of Scientology, and good buddies with leader David Miscavige. Scientology IS a cult, and it’s a very dangerous and predatory one. It’s efficient at isolating its members from the outside world, it’s emotionally, financially, physically draining.

Please look more into Scientology, from the perspective of a cult, not a new age religion.

This is a scary red flag- the minimization of Scientology as a cult.

Not to dismiss Christianity doing harm- I do believe every religion is problematic in its extremities, but the world has no place for “new age” religion from the doctrine of a dead sci-fi author.

Agree. My take is Tom was probably quasi brainwashed into the cult (he joined when he was young), and is in some ways a victim. BUT....you can be a victim, and also victimize and do great harm to others. He's a high ranking member which means he helps keep that horrible cult afloat and alive.

Hamas holds 240 hostage and kills 1,200 civilians.

Israel holds 2,000,000 hostage, displaces half of them, restricts access to food, water, medicine, and electricity, settles on land owned by another 2,700,000 civilians, settlers attack and murder them, and in the last two months they've indiscriminately killed 12,000 civilians, including 4,000 children, by bombing or assaulting everything from homes to hospitals to refugee camps.

Gee, I wonder why people aren't more sympathetic towards Israel :ladyhaha:

I can't believe I'm agreeing with Tom freaking Cruise :rip:

I'm just like 🧍‍♂️

I do agree in the benefit of the doubt about Tom Cruise.

Celebrities were allured into Scientology to heighten its image, Tom being one of the biggest bullseyes. The hook, line, and sink to get him in could have been very methodical, alluring, a slow brainwash.

I believe Tom could be a victim of Scientology as well. The blackmail, the potential threats to his family. Hell, I believe Tom Cruise could be smart enough to not believe in Scientology, but doesn’t have an out that wouldn’t destroy him or his former family.

Tom Cruise the movie star has many testimonies from costars to PA’s of being a stand up person.

Tom Cruise the scientologist could be brainwashed, could be trapped in perpetuity, could be a willing participant in the machine. It’s all speculation, and at this point I want to give him the benefit of the doubt.
