Is like saying someone with an online store business from Spain doesnt have to pay taxes 'cause they only get orders from Australia and Canada. She should have payed I don't contest that. I just wonder how this works she must've already had companies and stuff like that prior to date Pique, so they weren't registered in Spain even. It's like my former boss has a company registered in Portugal paying taxes in Portugal. She dates a guy from Vigo, spends a lot of time there ( her sister runs almost everything )... From what I recalled she pays her taxes in Portugal... I I mean she stays with her guy there but I don't believe she pays taxes there, she owns nothing there and her income doesn't come from there. Shakira needs to payed taxes from all the contracts she did under her name those years? Or if the nature of the problem is her residency she needs to pay taxes regarding all her fortune or prior companies she owns? Anyways rich have a lot money so I don't know why they put themselves in these situations.
StrawberryBlond 14,198
Damn, shots fired! Much has been made about the concept of Shakira being unaware of the fact she had to pay taxes and that she just believed Gerard when he told her that she didn't have to. But I'm shocked that someone as smart and wealthy as Shakira just blindly took his word for it. Even I, who is embarrassingly unknowledgeable when it comes to financial matters, would have thought it common sense that if I was living in another country for 6+ months a year that I should be obligated to pay tax there. And I wouldn't just believe a resident who said otherwise considering that it's not unusual for people to be surprisingly unaware of their country's laws. I don't know who you'd call to get a correct answer but I'd look into this thoroughly before moving, I'd want an answer from an official who knows what they're talking about and make it clear that I need the truth as I don't want to be arrested for tax evasion further down the line (I'd even feel tempted to take the name of the informer so I could report them for giving me misinformation if I do get unexpectantly accused one day). Maybe Shakira was just so crazy in love that she just accepted whatever Gerard told her and I've said before that I don't think tax evasion should be a crime worthy of jail but I can't deny that her repeated assertion that she naively thought she didn't have to pay tax because her boyfriend told her so doesn't make her look good. Better than knowingly dodging tax but it's still embarrassing, to say the least.
Nemo 4,209
This is not actually "blaming her ex". It's just a complaint about allegedly disparate treatment of people in different parts of the country.

AMRer 3,232
This is not a joke? This is a common thing here, blaming the husband cause the poor wife didn't know anything... c'mon! And stablishing these Madrid-Barcelona differences are so stupid. In Madrid less taxes are paid cause they try to privatize everything and when they run out of money they go running to the spanish goverment to ask for money, while in Barcelona they pay way more because of the opposite. Everybody knows that, and using that as an excuse seems so lame
