Hating Leftists doesnt make him Trump. Almost everyone hate Leftists, even Leftists hate themselves. To me, it depends on why he hates Leftist, and what Leftist policies does he support.

I never said “hating leftists made him Trump.” He legitimately said he believes that any policy that resembles any form of “collectivism” is leftism, which is, of course, an overly broad definition of leftism and would be a definition that includes things like equal rights and democracy. That, to me, reeks of fascism and is precisely the overly broad definition of “leftism, Marxism et al” that Orban and Trump use to villainize their opposition. “Everything I don’t like is communism” teas.

I don't get people saying the country is f*cked now that he's president when we've been having super high inflation rates for almost 2 years now. Like the country is f*cked already!!

I sort of agree with you on this. Although I see myself as more of a democrat/liberal, some elements of the left definitely concern me.

I've been reading on this guy today, and it seems that he wants to dollarize the economy which seemed to work for El Salvador. Basically he'd rather use the currency of another nation as a standard than let corrupt politicians in his country continue to debase the peso. I mean when you look at 140% inflation, sadly he does have a point.

His definition of “leftism” is essentially any form of “collectivism,” which likely includes equal rights, liberal democracy etc. He uses the term “leftist” in the same way many far right demagogues do (“everything I don’t like is communism”).

Yeah thats because Libertarians are against collectivism, but that doesnt mean they are against equal rights and Democracy!

Libertarians believe in full equal rights, including Trans and LGBTQ+ rights, supporting illegal immigration, legalizing sex work and drugs, and are anti religious laws. But their approach to these issues come from the view of respecting individual rights.

They also support Democracy, but they dont believe Democracy should interfere with individual rights. Which is something everyone believes in, like how America believes in Democracy, but Democracy cant override the constitution. Everyone has a limit to what Democracy can achieve.

I used to be a Libertarian so I know this, and I know how people try to paint Libertarians as far right fascists. Do you think Ron Paul is a far right fascist?

So instead of addressing my comments about him specifically, you made this about libertarianism more broadly. I didn’t say he was a fascist because he was a libertarian, I said he was a fascist because aligns himself with dictators and autocrats like Trump, Orban, and Bolsanoro while running on a heavily demagogic platform. He also has openly defended the crimes of the former military dictatorship in Argentina.

Seriously? How privileged do you have to be lol. People in Argentina were eating RATS not too long ago because of how bad their economy was.

“Which likely includes”

you can just say you’re not happy with the results of the election instead of trying to scare people into thinking they’re going to be losing rights :ohwell:

They kind of are if you actually look at what mainstream libertarian ideology is about in relation to Milei & the general western approach to libertariansim. .

Libertarians traditionally talk a great game about personal liberty, but the reality of what is pushed for/implemented by existing libertarian politicians like Milei is one where the protective apparatus of the state is removed and social rights aren't protected by the state as they are seen as a block to the freedom of the market.

Keep telling yourself that a man that apologizes for the crimes of the former military dictatorship in Argentina isn’t a fascist, sweetie :vegas:
