She lost so much momentum putting off her sophomore album and she's just been releasing singles that have done progressively worse. And this ‘hiatus’ is gonna do nothing but lose the interest of even more people. I’m sure she has a lot of pressure on her and it can’t be easy, she also seems like the type to take to heart negative reception & performance but she needs to do something ASAP if she wants to remain on top. She’s not Nicki Minaj who will forever stay relevant and have hype around, Cardi barely has an album and instead of going harder to build that fanbase and recognition with the GP like Nicki did for years, she dips out whenever she doesn’t get what results she wants straight away. Nicki pushed through for years with flop collabs and singles that didn’t perform so well, Cardi puts out a single, gets upset it doesn’t go to nr. 1 and goes into hiding for a year before she does the same thing again. She had elements of that on Invasion of Privacy, but she could definitely push it more. I mean, her flow is very old-school 80s/90s and she's a big fan of retro nostalgia queen Lady Gaga; I'm shocked Cardi hasn't leaned more into that aesthetic and sound and fused it with hip house, new jack swing, etc. to set her apart from other female rappers.
