This might be the first time I heard a pop star actually speak the word "flop", instead of reading it in a random GGD post or tweet :flippy:

I'm not a Katy Perry stan by any means, but it's sad to see someone that was once be considered a titan in pop music be regarded as a "flop" by today's audience.

Like..this was the same woman that we'd be scared of blocking Gaga in the charts being regarded almost as a  joke now. :awkney:

Well she is a flop by definition, her downfall after Dark Horse was absolutely crazy...

I hope she'll have a great comeback though with a new fresh sound.

Harleys in Hawaii is her most successful song since Dark Horse (or CTTR maybe) and I'm 100% sure it's because the song, music video and vibe are different from what she is always doing.

She just really really really need to change her sound & visuals.

Her vocals & performing skills improved a lot, I feel like with a great song and reinvention she could go back to like top 20/top 30 hits on the hot 100

I think she’s still in the public eye enough that it doesn’t really matter that her run of pop hits is over. She’s not a “flop” in the same sense of failure that other examples are.

She’s probably in a very happy place right now too!

She made some of the best pop songs of all time and u guys are treating her like this? :interestinga:

I feel like most people recognize her huge pop hits but that doesn’t mean they can’t acknowledge that she is indeed a huge flop after Prism. Being a flop is only bad if you only care about chart success. Artistry > chart positions.

Nope, Gaga did it first :huntyga:

I truly do not miss this phase of hers, this is really hard to watch with 10 years of hindsight

It's too soon to write her off .... She'll have a few more hits in her career I feel...

Although she would never reach even half the peak of TD/Prism era lol

Is it really too soon? She is 16 years into her career (after breaking commercial success) and her last two albums were very lukewarm commercially (though I did like Smile a lot and Witness has some really great tracks). That doesn't seem too soon to me. :enigma:

she owns multiple mansions, has a beautiful family, and routinely gets ritual elder sacrifices in her honor. she's going to be okay if some people online acknowledge that her music doesn't sell as well as it used to.
