And mind you…. For those saying she had too many vinyl variants…

Numbers are huge of course, but are we gonna use this pic and ignore she also had multiple versions for CDs and also a cassette?

Chromatica had 2. And it also only had 3 vinyls when it was released, clear, milky and picture disc. UO's, RSD day and trifold came way later. I can't tell what the 7th one is.

Edit: Like I said, it's still huge numbers, but we can't pretend it wasn't only supported on 5 vinyls when there was other things.

Chromatica also had a silver LP, not sure if that’s the one.

He never said there weren't other options to buy. I think the point is other artists had way more variants and only sold a portion of what Taylor is selling. So having more variants doesn't mean more sales. In the end that's up to the fans. I don't see why there always has to be someone trying to undercut Taylor's succes.

I do feel like this thread is a bit early tho. Official numbers come Sunday. Still if she surpasses Midnights first week come Sunday it will be very impressive. Makes you think if she can get close to 2M with TS11 if she delivers an amazing record and does more promotion first week than she did with her last few albums.

Bronco

Her UK numbers are officially in - more than double the opening week of the original 1989 release.

Fastest selling record of 2023 in the UK.

Only album released in 2023 to go Gold in a single week of sales in the UK.

1 number 1 album away from matching Madonna's record (as a female act) of 12 number 1 albums.

Biggest selling record this week on vinyl.

3 tracks debuted in the top 10. All 3 Top 10 debuts are from the vault not rerecorded tracks.

Is it over now? at Number 1, Now that We Don't Talk at number 2 & Slut! at 5.

Article also states that her US vinyl sales for 1989 this week is the largest week for a single album on vinyl since modern sales tracking began in 1991 (wouldn't it have been ironic if the tracking began 2 years earlier).

Think we all have to accept that 1989 is forever going to be a Hall of Fame level album.
