Also if those are part of public sidewalks, the authorities really need to clean them up. Hogging up public spaces for an event months in advance is crazy and selfish af

I thought celebrities stopped doing that, and the floor is now seated tickets. I rarely see standing tickets, unless its in a small part on the middle of the stage. And usually that part it doesnt matter where you are, you will always be close.

Seated floors are still very uncommon outside of the US. South America and Europe still almost exclusively uses general admission. Australia and Canada are using seated floors a bit more regularly but by far GA is still the most common ticketing style for live events outside the US.

Why though? isnt  it better for people to choose their seats?

People in Europe actually dance and enjoy the concerts in a different way than Americans. I've seen so many dead crowds at shows in the US it looks so boring to go tbh.

Most people in those markets don’t like seated floors because they believe it ruins the fun. From a booking standpoint as well it reduces the amount of people you can get into the venue to have a reserved seating floor. From an audience standpoint a reserved seating floor is also more expensive than general admission, often by a few hundred dollars. All around its audience and promoter preference in most of the world to do GA and always has been. The US used to do GA too until the 90s or so when seated floors grew in popularity here. We still do sometimes if the artist chooses to but they tend to do seated here in order to charge more and US audiences prefer it.
