SimonBaetens 6,878
It’s a great album but John Wayne was a very bad single choice. Diamond Heart, Joanne and Sinner’s Prayer should all have been singles. when you're lonely, I'll be lonely too / https://www.last.fm/user/SimonBaetens
Omegahedron 163
Hey Girl is absolutely charming. I don't really like Angel Down.
SevenWonder 3,835
This really is going to be unpopular: I absolutely love Grigio Girls. It's so sweet and affirming and catchy and folk inspired. It is - by far- the Joanne track I've listened to the most. I know. I can show myself out now.

Head Empty 24,285
There were many moments I enjoyed during this era, but... negative thoughts incoming I didn't "believe" the version of Gaga that sang/promoted this album. It felt like she was playing a "raw version" of herself to be more relatable. The direction of the album always felt left-of-field. Gaga had barely ever mentioned interest in americana/country/folk as a genre, and she hasn't referenced that part of the industry since the era ended. It felt disingenuous. As far as we know, her "real" roots are in jazz or possibly classic rock. Those influences would've felt more natural in the context of the album. The pink cowboy hat didn't make sense in a lot of ways, and I still don't understand how it relates to her or the themes of the album - besides just being an easy prop to use for marketing. Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺

I agree on Diamond Heart being single material though

Putting together a pop world tour with this material and vibe just did not work at all. As an album, it's good but bland. It lacks flavor, and its production is muddled, it does not "pop." Just Another Day is a masterpiece though, it is so full of life and character. Joanne World Tour was amazing wdym it didnt work. The bulk of Joanne does not mesh well with her previous stuff, the whole it creates is not cohesive. It lacked a clear identity or point of view, and the direction felt all over the place as a result. This is just my opinion though. Time. It will not wait, no matter how hard you hold on...
