FKA twigs revealed on her insta stories that she got hacked and 85 demos of hers got leaked…

she also announces that this means NO NEW MUSIC FOR NOW and that she’ll go back to the “drawing board”

I feel very sorry for her, but I see some songs in the list that Ive been wanting to have since forever, so I might look for the leak 

also, do u think it’s a bit exaggerated that she doesnt want to release the new music anymore ? 
 

if she didbt put it on hee story I wouldnt even have known tbh, and it’s just demos/rough versions so it’s not like she’d make any loss

I saw a link to like 25 songs posted in a leak site last week so nope it's very much real. The link had expired though so I couldn't check if the files are actual leaks or not.

Tbh I might do the same in that situation. Literally ruins the whole point of releasing an album and kind of tarnishes the work from thereon out. You couldn't happily release the music with the same excitement anymore and would so upset you wouldn't even want to look at it anymore. Like when you've worked really hard on something like a painting for months and someone comes and scratches it all up at the last minute

There's multiple reasons leaks are bad:

- The songs lose commercial viability. They can't be sold to other artists and it will be less likely that elements from those demo's will be repurposed in the future.

- It will reduce hype for official releases, because fans are already being "fed".

- The demo's weren't released for a reason: the quality wasn't up to par. Pointing fans towards them, is exposing them to material that didn't meet your usual standard.

I don't blame her at all and I don't think anyone should. To go through several months (even years) of making art, curating a specific sound for a specific project and then to basically have your diary stolen and published online with all your half baked ideas you may not be happy with yet would completely ruin any motivation to finish.
