IMG-9028.jpgThis makes it the second biggest concert film in profit, surpassing Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never.”

Swift’s “Eras Tour” has been shattering expectations since tickets first went on sale. It set a single-day ticket sales record for AMC Theatres with $26 million in North America, besting the all-time benchmark previously held by “Spider-Man: No Way Home” ($16.9 million).

That's at least 5M people!!!!! $20 a ticket, cheaper for kids and elderly. Soooo fking GAGGED! Her power is.. unmatched. This might be so weird but I would love to see Michael's reaction to her success. I feel like only he could relate.

Imagine if it grosses more than some big budget fictional films this year? I didn't think that could really happen but if its gained $100 million from advance sales alone (and most people don't buy advance tickets and overall movie takings always outstrip advance sales by a longshot) it's a possibility. If fans were prepared to pay hundreds to see her on tour multiple times and buy merch, they'll be prepared to pay a fraction of that amount to see it in the comfort of a cinema multiple times. And all the fans who couldn't go to the tour will definitely see it more than once. I've noticed tour films aren't big successes (Justin's Never Say Never seems to be the biggest seller at $99 million) but this will break the mould for sure.

They expect it to gross over $100 million only in the us( for example Barbie made $168 million in the US)

OMG, the exaggeration is making me want to throw up lol.

Basically every screening at the largest theater chain in Germany in Berlin is empty on opening day and in Poland as well. The way the Swifties overrate her success and impact WW is what turns me completely off on liking her or her fanbase.

Midnights is on par with Harry Styles in terms of sales outside of the US. What's more funny is it's on par with Adele's 30 (a commercial underperformance) in most places WW. It's definitely no 25, 21 or The Fame. As a Gaga stan, on this board specifically, you shouldn't be gloating and completely diminishing Gaga's gigantic peak (one which was way bigger globally than ms. Swift's) with sentences like that. The only one Michael could relate to in terms of global domination is The Beatles or maybe Adele.

Taylor can relate her butt to others who have had a similar peak: Gaga (2009-11), Britney (1999-2006) or J.Lo (from 2003-04), not counting male artists such as Bieber and/or Ed Sheeran.

To further add insult to that comparison you just made, Ed Sheeran's Divide album from 2017 is and was bigger than Midnights everywhere outside of the US. Wikipedia is your friend.

OT: Yeah, it's not breaking any pre-sale records anywhere aside from the UK or Australia, so it's going to be like 80% US gross in its international opening weekend. Can't wait for the excuses though.

It'd be one thing if the Swifties were lying, but you can't argue with numbers and factual statistics

You could completely separate the success from her fanbase, and the stats would still be the same.

And the point is her peak is NOT unmatched as both Gaga's The Fame, Adele's 21 and 25, Britney's BOMT and Ed Sheeran's Divide peaks were bigger. Those are stats.

What are you trying to argue?

At this rate shes gonna surpass Madonna as the biggest female artist of all time (at least commercially speaking)

I'm not trying to argue anything. A friendly conversation at most lol

I think each artist listed above peaked in very different ways.

Gaga for example, peaked with sales and overall pop cultural shifting prowess. Adele peaked with sales and massive stadium tour, but was hit with the 4th album curse. As was Gaga. Britney's BOMT is akin to Gaga's as they were both debut eras.

We can take away the peak comparisons for a second and acknowledge that Taylor is currently peaking in a different way than the others, with astronomical numbers 10 albums in. While some artists decline commercially over time, and some come and go with each release, Taylor has managed to continuously reach higher levels of success previously unseen in her career. And that alone, is an impressive feat. And even if her current peak is below those aforementioned, I don't doubt that she has the ability to reach it.

I don't think you understood the point.

The point was saying that only Michael could relate to Taylor's power, which is absolutely not the case. For Taylor to relate to Michael in terms of power would mean she'd have to reach Adele-like fame and success. Her being at her 10th album and peaking is worth sh!t in a discussion about her relating to Michael. Michael had back-to-back eras bigger than anything anyone has released so we DO have to talk peak eras because that's where you see how many people an artist can reach. Taylor never reached that many people so therefore she cannot relate to him. Adele was close but even she couldn't.

Her longevity has nothing to with this. Bruce Springsteen also had incredible longevity, but he's not on MJ's level either.

This is so so so wrong i cant even begin to explain why lol.

I just checked the german and polish theater websites and all were decently sold (like ~75%) on the first day, taking into account that there's still almost a week left for the movie and people also buy tickets on the day of the screening, that is fantastic.

regarding album sales, you could not be more wrong. compare to gaga's peak or 25s worldwide album sales 1 year after their release and midnights is catching up EASILY.
For comparison, as you did to 30, midnights has already surpassed 10 million in global units while 30, a 2 year old album still hasn't.

Not only taylor's commercial peak is higher (because she has the biggest EAS year for any artist this year with ~ 50m in 2023, which is some people's entire career sales) her peak is has legs for longevity too.
this isn't some newly rising star that people will get tired of next year. the moves she is doing past 2019 are cementing her as one of the greatest and biggest ever in history.
she is on the biggest tour in history that'ss et to gross over $2 billion in gross revenue, the tour movie will also gross at $150 million.

while these artists you mentioned had their peaks with singular albums/era, her entire catalogue is smashing right now, pushing her total sales to surpass so many iconinc womena nd eventually madonna to and become the highgest seeling woman ever.

your hatred of her and her success is so transparent. you  glued bunch of unverified and false information together to try to convince people on this forum that she is not as succesfull without realizing every single thing you said could be verified and checked.

she is the biggest thing right now and is as big as michael or the beatless used to be, you like it or not.

I'm pretty sure she's the richest artist in the world by now. I'm not a Taylor fan at all but that kind of power demands respect.
