The record becomes Doja’s second Top 5 LP. It follows 2021’s Planet Her (3), becoming her third Top 40 album to date. Hot Pink provided Doja her first Official Albums Chart entry in 2019 (38). Doja Cat secures a straight month at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Paint the Town Red. Reason why Joanne debuted with 201K units in US even when PI flopped and MR wasn't a smash hit until SB, meaning no hit or viral song. ARTPOP had Applause, Chromatica had ROM and Sour Candy (Blackpink's power), but Joanne has nothing of that sort.... that's why Joanne 200k units are more impressive than Chromatica's 274k or ARTPOP's 258k.
