I don't think she has the fanbase that would buy all CDs, vinyl and cassette. Doja is relying pretty much on just streaming numbers and people who have listened to Say So, Kiss Me More, Woman and a couple of the other hits. Or does she ? Idk. I'm just looking at her wikipedia page and Scarlet is the first album she tours for ?

Well, she had a pretty loyal fanbase but I think a lot of it kinda dispersed after her whole hating-fans era :noparty:

I'm sure a lot of people that were borderline fans probably got turned off by all that.

I can't be free if my hands are tied... 🧟‍♀️👰🏻

damn really thought doja would pull bigger numbers especially after her success lately but I guess that is what happens when you drag your fans who are the ones that actually would purchase albums

The persona for this era backfired on her but she has served with the visuals, music, fashion etc.

Doja is here to stay long term, love her vision as an artist.

Yup this confirms her as a singles artist. The GP are basically saying to her if it’s a bop we’ll listen, if not we’re not interested. Doesn’t help that she trash talks her fan base a lot cause now she’ll have less loyal fans willing to support her. Also I do think that Agora Hills has hit potential but dunno if now is the right time to push for it when PTTR is still doing well.

It’s so weird that the album is selling so low. I think she’s definitely a singles artist, which transfers to low album sales and poor tour turnout. She’s like the Katy Perry or Kesha of this generation, huge hit singles but lack of core fanbase to drive album sales. Her songs seem to have longevity and viralbility though, interested to see how her career turns out longer term.

Future Lovers

The album is receiving a heavily mixed response from listeners, she's relying completely on streaming, PTTR is the only pre-release song that people have cared anything about, and the press that's surrounded her has turned a lot of people off.

There's a reason the tour's not doing incredibly well and there's a reason the album isn't selling well: people just aren't interested in this era. The aesthetics are great, but the music just isn't there to back it up. People do actually want more than just something pretty to look at.

She set herself up too by promising this album was gonna be something different and new and fresh for her when it's really not. It's not far removed from what one has come to expect from Doja as a rapper. The songs are by and large pretty boring with a few notable exceptions, and a lot of it just all blends together into mush.

There's just not much special about the actual content of the album, and it's turned a lot of the people that Planet Her brought in off.

You really can't say she's "on top" when the follow up to one of the biggest albums of the last few years is showing an over 50% sales decline.
