Miley Cyrus hasn't made any money from her 2014 Bangerz world tour

Reflecting on the global trek, Miley Cyrus said: “It was an investment in myself.

“A lot of these ideas were so outlandish that no one wanted to support me in making these items.

“I had big puppets, oversized beds, I arrived on stage by sliding down (a giant model of) my own tongue.

“I didn’t make a dime on this tour because I wanted the tour to be excellent and when everyone kept saying ‘why are you doing this? You are going to do like a hundred shows and you are not going to make any money?’

"I said there is no one I would rather invest in than myself.

“I paid for it all to make it exactly what I and the fans deserved.”

The sad reality of being a popstar, these labels ain’t sh*t, if even the big acts don’t get support ( Gaga was nearly bankrupt during TMBT ) then who does? Mind you they make MILLIONS on MILLIONS.

Bet she was rich enough already to be able to not pay herself

Reject False Icons

I’m so glad she did it, it’s probably modern Miley’s biggest tour ever, extra points for filming it professionally and releasing it on dvd :excited:

fun fact some countries did not get the full show theatrics and now it makes much more sense, must be a real challenge transport these complex props & stages

the tour reportedly made $60+ million... I really don't believe she didn't make anything, even after all the costs of the production, travel, commissions, taxes etc.

Exactly like Gaga and the Monster Ball. She wanted a show so big and the label weren't willing to fund it all so she took the cut herself earned nothing from it. And if I remember correctly one leg of that tour she also did free gigs at clubs every night after doing her big show to make extra money to keep going

(someone correct me if I'm off)

But you can really tell when an artist is passionate about their craft

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

she was doing the club gigs after opening for pussycat dolls/nkb, but during tmb she’d occasionally do a piano number or something at a bar but it wasnt a whole show or anything

Were the piano gigs free to the venue or free to attendees? How did she make the extra money?

the club gigs were paid, her bar appearances later during tmb were one offs and not even really “gigs”, she’d just be at a bar and do a song for two for fun once in a while, they werent promoted or anything

the club gigs paid for her set as an opening act, and when it came to going broke, that was during tmb1.0, because even though the shows were doing well, they were in theatre venues and she was paying for a lot of it herself. livenation saw the potential she had and made a deal with her to revamp the show for arenas instead of theatres, invested heavily in the show but she also toured that show for like 2 years so thats how she got out of debt from tmb

She definitely earned quite a bit in the end. But for a while she was playing in theaters. She took the remaining money she had earned so far from the tour and the fame album and used it to revamp the show for TMB 2.0 to be played in actual arenas.

OH yes you're right! It was to fund the The Fame Ball wasn't it? Then she through everything she made from TFB into TMB and went broke funding it, because she wanted a massive show that the label couldn't fund

People paid to see her and she didn't pocket any money from it, it went back into funding her tours
