Is GUTS about to face the "sophomore slump"?

Title. The lead single "vampire" debuted at no.1 on the BB Hot 100 and stayed there for 1 week but it's still holding up inside the Top 10, while the second single "bad idea right?" debuted at no.10 to mixed opinions like how similar it sounds to tracks from SOUR. She also faced similar criticism when she released the album cover of GUTS:

GUTS and its singles don't seem to generate the buzz or hype outside of her fanbase that was probably predicted (as the major conversation around it is disappointment at how close it is to her previous work) so it it headed for the dreaded "sophomore slump"? At least by her standards anyway, given the massive success of SOUR. Thoughts?

I think critics on pop forums will call it a sophomore slump when compared to the success Sour had - I do not think that she will meet or top that with GUTS, but I do think it will be massively successful and mostly acclaimed by critics and supported by the GP.

I think the first week sales will be high. But I don't know what comes after that week. The album could have gems that people will enjoy hearing more than two  singles. Picking the wrong singles happened in this business :fan:

it’s really perplexing how similar everything just feels compared to her last record. it almost feels like it is the same album

I always believed she would become the new Carly Rae Jepsen

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Not chart-wise but with her career trajectory

I think I’m the only one who loves that GUTS sounds just like SOUR. SOUR had the bops and Miss Rodrigo is feeding my gay heart at the moment

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

I like it too. I am looking forward to creating a cohesive playlist of all her album songs.

Really shows how much the charts do not matter, cuz Bad Idea Right is the song that everyone was talking about, and Vampire felt like a flop :toofunny:

I’m not into her music

it is interesting that the era just seems to be an extension of the previous

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Given her first single debuted at number one and is still top ten and her second single debuted top ten, she already has defeated the sophomore slump. Most pop girls these days struggle to climb to a top ten and she got two right away including a number one. The GP was so ready for her.
