But I don't think it really helps transpeople's (or any minorities) cause in the long run. We might be missing an opportunity to fix the situation rather than push them against us. The way I see it, anyone with a phobia have an irrational fear of something, so the best thing you can do is approach it in a calm, rational way and discuss it with them in baby steps as though you were helping a friend. If you look it up they can have permanent effect on bone density, bone growth, growth spurts and fertility. Saying that puberty blockers are harmless and easily reversable is straight up false information. I think kids and their parents need to know the whole truth before they get started on this journey. Although I don't 100% agree with her, I don't see anything in her comment that deems calling her a "TERF". People are too quick to label and cancel. This behavior is unhealthy and unproductive. The jumping to „canceling“ also ignores totally the ability of someone to educate themself on certain topics.. maybe she had a few more discussions in private (yes, people don’t live their entire life on the internet) and she started a learning process. My mum has 3 queer children and she still learns about new things to her about stuff she was never confronted about. I see Róisín as a very open person who has lived a solid amount of life and choose to believe that she doesn’t come from an evil place.
