TortureMeOnReplay 5,795 Posted August 12, 2023 Share Posted August 12, 2023 The more I think about it, the more I think Doja's new music is about healing from the trauma of her rapid rise to fame. I feel like Paint the Town Red and some of the things she's been saying are retrospective thoughts. Obviously she's dragged her fans and said some things in her music that are a bit off putting. But I think this is how she used to feel and the later part of the rollout/album will address this and how she wants a healthier relationship with the public. I don't care if she sincerely feels like this today, because I've distanced myself from artists over time and recognized the parasocial relationship. But I think this is all the case because I don't think her label would let her ruin her reputation/fanbase this way unless there was an out. Thoughts? I was ready for her to take it there, but her new songs sound exactly like her old songs? and the visuals and lyrics didnt go as far as I wanted her to go.
