Exactly….the idea that actors & writers aren’t underpaid is ludicrous. When considering the profits coming out of their labor….every worker should be entitled to a strong percentage of the profits from what they produce whether it’s shoes from a factory or media content. Entertainment CEO’s living so phat whole low level creatives are starving.

and the idea that AI is already in the hands of the same people in power is something that basically affects every working space around the world. These people need to realize that this is a holy grail that is only to be used for making the lives of ALL people better not just the ones who think can make the most profit out of it and for their own pockets. 
If AI is not used for a greater good with a perspective of improving working conditions but just for making money and satisfying the unsatisfiable greed of CEOs then we are doomed I fear--- this strike and uprising is really important because it is a fight for every working person not just the ones in the entertainment industry

This!

The people thinking this is ridiculous will be in the exact same position when ai technology also threatens to take their jobs. If the whole entertainment industry can be replaced by it, what make you think you won't be? For those thinking that ai is only an audio-visual thing take a look at the advancements of technology in general these past few years, especially robotics.

asking for equity is not asking for trouble, its asking for justice 

and i'm sure there is a relief fund set up by the unions and fundraisers being planned

Mega rich actors and writers represent a small fraction of Hollywood. SAG and the writer’s guild represent over 150k people and maybe a few hundred of those people are one percenters. The majority of writers and small actors live solely of off $300 monthly residual checks (if they’re lucky to get one that high, it’s usually sub $100). 

One of the writers of She-Hulk makes $309 monthly in residuals while Disney has made hundreds of millions off of it. 

If you think everyone in the industry is rich, then that proves you have not done one drop of actual research into the situation. And if you’re not educated on a subject, then it’s best to keep your mouth shut.

i honestly dont mind that AI takes over everyone's jobs but we first need to create policies that would ensure the $$$ AI will create goes back to the people in the form of basic, monthly income checks

imagine robots doing all the work for us and the rest of humanity can just sit back, receive checks every month with no strings attached, so they may relish their lives and enrich themselves however they please 

but alas, the powers at play would never go for that
