Didn't know touring was his thing. He doesn't seem like an artist who could pull such large audience. Genuinely surprised:enigma:

I went and I was so hyped for the concert, and it exceeded my expectations. He’s great, so much better and more interesting than the Harry Styles concert I had a few days before :stupidoreo:

She more than likely will. Her European tour alone performed massively and she is playing even more dates in the US. Beyond that, she is supposedly set to announce dates for Africa and potentially Australia and Asia as well.

But she also cancelled a date and probably will cancel some more if the ticket sales keep doing worse.

One date out of an original 34 isn't going to make much difference. And no, I suspect all the other shows will make it because the ticket sales are not low enough for a cancellation. Those shows will sell. The low sales in Pittsburgh are for a variety of reasons that are not applicable to really any other date of the tour. Even then the Pittsburgh cancellation was premature considering there was still over a month to go.

Beyonce made 150 million ONLY in Europe where ticket prices are much lower than the US. Even if she don’t sell out(she will definitely sell out imo) she will probably make more than 300 millions total due to the super expensive tickets. Plus Asia and plus Oceania she will make history.

The Bad Tour had 123 shows and about 4.5 million attendees with a gross of $125M in 1989.

That means on average a ticket would cost $30 back then or $75 in 2023. Some nosebleeds aren’t even $75.

Shows today are so expensive to begin with. Then we add the costs the scummy Verified Resellers that scumbags Ticketmaster allows.

Omg. The attendance for the BWT was four times higher and the tickets were like a quarter of the cost, even adjusted for inflation :poot:

So...not much of an accomplishment when you think about it :poot:

But anyway! If MJ were around today I think he'd be pleased with this. He loved being an icon and being on top but more than anything, he loved excellent black artists.

Some Moonwalker deep lore here but there's notes of his that were taken from his numerous homes where he was upset that young people only had white idols like Elvis or Bruce Springsteen to look up to. He wanted to be the king purely so there was a black king.

So with The Weeknd pulling this off and Beyonce hot on his heels, it's nice tbh. Like a torch is being passed :diane:

Hopefully, between the two of them, Madonna and Taylor are overthrown someday :ally: (if they haven't been already idk, I barely pay attention to sales and stuff lmao)

Tbh Madonna deserves the record, she did a lot that really paved the way for Beyoncé and the Weeknd, hence why they both very recently referenced her music.

Eh, maybe if she was a better person I'd agree :laughga:

I'd rather her over Taylor though but Beyonce over them all tbh.

Where is Ed Sheeran in all this? Didn't he break some record? Let's dethrone him :anveeroy:

I always find it strange how 'highest grossing tour' is celebrated. Like, isn't that just because tickets are so expensive nowadays??

well, yes, but these artists still need massive numbers of people willing to pay that much to see them. Some artists are struggling to sell out small venues with affordable prices, but the superstars can still get hundreds of thousands of fans to see them even with the high ticket prices.

And she's held the record for decades. Do people who paved the way for Madonna deserve it over her? Of course not, the artists that beat the record deserved it. It's numbers, not a subjective opinion or artistic merit.
