Ophelia 4,516
at around 1:05 she claims: "I don't wanna be one of those artists that after my first album writes about the trials and tribulations of being a popstar. I think that's quite lame." Isn't that what TFM is about? (I really don't want to be mean towards her, everyone can change their mind regarding their outlook on artistry they make. I just thought that's kinda funny) Discuss and enjoy the throwback. ...has anybody seen my disco stick?
bionic 44,414
Classy response about Christina but also funny knowing Gaga's involvement with Perez publicly dragging her. This interviewer is bizaarely confrontational buy bionic
HiddenWeirdo 4,268
isn't TFM essentially about her overall fears and insecurities?

I recently saw an interview of theirs with Kylie where the interviewing was raving about the new single "Can't Get You Out Of My Mind" Let's also say it's no surprise that the channel lost popularity over the years and stopped completely in 2011 Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺
Jester 6,292
Tbh almost all of her following albums were partially about "trials and tribulations of being a popstar"
Maxine Puth 9,053
In the context of the interview I think she means like, she doesn’t want all her future songs to be only about performing on big stages, selling tickets, making money, dealing with fame etc. TFM is different because those are about her personal fears which she has had since before the fame. Obviously she still puts out music related to the trials and tribulations of being a pop star (like Fun Tonight), but overall it’s not the main topic of her work. Controversiaga 9,511
Gaga says a lot of things then turns around and surprises us. Lol Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
OMonster 14,615
I would say, of all her albums, Chromatica is the one most about her struggle with fame... although every album since The Fame has touched on it very heavily tbh. It's fascinating really. The Fame album basically chronicles Gaga's desire for fame (as the most consistent theme, at least), whilst every album after it has demonstrated how, once she got that fame, it almost destroyed her. In TFM, she talks about the dangerous addictiveness and chaos of fame... In BTW, she talks about wanting to use her fame for good but also struggling with navigating life as a superstar... In AP, she talks about wanting to 'reinvent' her own infamy (in the the title track), as well as her continued obsession with it in songs like Applause and Donatella (however ironically)... In Joanne, she talks about how no amount of fame can heal past or present traumas (or change who she really is, inside)... And in Chromatica, she talks about how fame almost ended her life but how her love and passion for music pulled her back from the edge. Now it's time for LG7, I guess, to explore how, after that battle, she re-discovered her love for 'fame' (in terms of performing and being an artist) but has managed to build a better relationship with it (which started to emerge in Chromatica on 'Enigma'). subtext / fantasy
ALittleMonsta 1,529
TFM was described as the dark side of the fame by gaga herself for those who think tfm has no relation to this
Night Vision 3,050
I know Gaga said that the theme behind TFM was "monsters" she had encountered in her rise to fame, but when you actually listen to the songs, none of them are actually about that subject

Perez said it after he fell out with Gaga (and wrote about it in his book apparently) so whether you think that is credible is up to you. I don't think it was a genuine topic amongst the Xtina fanbase (as small as it is) beforehand. I think Perez's statements are somewhat based in the truth. It would be a weird thing to claim otherwise, especially when there are probs much more creative and hard-striking lies he could make up if fictional. There's not much to gain from making it up. That said, I also think Gaga was a passive participant at best buy bionic
