I don't think he's backtracking, he was always fond of grotesque portrayal of Hollywood and himself. The show seems like a long form version of something he already did in his music videos where he often displays LA as an evil place.

Not sure seeing the scene out of context is the best way to judge it, but yeah he’s definitely not the highlight of the show.

Lily-Rose’s scenes are honestly worth the watch, but for now, just 2 episodes in, I’m still not sure how gratuitous this will all turn out to be. Hopefully this will lead somewhere by episode 6.
