Any medication in the US is either paid for out of pocket completely (this drug will cost the average consumer upwards of $1,090/8 tablets) or rely on insurance coverage to cover a percentage of the cost and leave the individual paying a copay or the rest out of pocket. Pharmaceutical companies make billions per year over pricing medications to insurance companies which leaves individuals without insurance paying exorbitant amounts for medicine. Nurtec alone recorded over $184 million alone in profits last year. Any person making money off shilling pills is taking advantage of people who can’t afford health insurance or do and still have to pay ridiculous prices because these companies can charge outrageous amounts. Healthcare should not be a luxury. Also just 3 months ago this very drug was recalled due to child safety issues and potential poisoning. It may come off as soap boxy but as someone who has personally had to forgo taking my meds because of insurance issues, prior authorizations, and costs, it’s sad see Gaga taking a pay check over migraine pills.
