She's clearly not too serious but she's got a point. A lot of reality TV shows treat real people like characters and will portray them in whatever way they want for views. There's sadly a lot of people who's lives got destroyed because they went on a reality tv show.

the thing about american idol in the begining wasnt even the judges but finding people to laugh at. The casting were as much to find "losers" to be ridiculed on screen as it was barely to find the big star

that was the real selling point of the show
