I think Dance In The Dark is such a fan favourite, and we would've loved to see it have the video it deserves.. but Alejandro did so well, and obviously we all love that song too, so I think Gaga was right tbh. I think DITD would've been lost on the general public a bit, whereas so many people who aren't Gaga fans seem to know Alejandro. I'm not sure DITD would've caught on that way

I wouldn't trade the Alejandro vieo/era/impact for anything. The real question is why couldn't they have just done a 4th single.

Alejandro is the one of most approachable gaga songs singles until the edge of glory. Yeah just dance, but it was quite unique at the time. 
its just super catchy and radio friendly.

Back in the day I would have voted Dance In The Dark.

It screamed single to me on first listen and still does, I was obsessed.

But I prefer Alejandro now. The 2 step reggae/ Ace Of Bace style of the song is a welcomed change for Gaga, it's genius.

Alejandro is a top-tier Gaga single. Insanely catchy and still doesn't sound dated. I love DITD but it might sound a bit noisy and over-the-top for radio.

The MV of Alejandro tho. I love the aesthetic but it should've been 5 mins. max. The song could've been even bigger if the video had replay value.

I'd pick DITD over Alejandro but this could be solved in the timeline where everyone agreed Telephone shouldn't have been a single! It should've been Bad Romance > Dance in the Dark > Alejandro

DITD is quintessential GAGA, so her switching it up during her dominance was a welcome change. 

Without Alejandro as the third single we may never of had seen the video, which is peak Gaga.

Though I I used to agree that DITD should have been promoted harder as a single, she did need a little cool down period before Born This Way.

Sometimes it’s easy to have a tainted perception when the singles have been so overplayed, but I truly think Alejandro deserved to be the single. Not that DITD didn’t, but I can honestly say that Alejandro is one of my top favorite songs from the first couple of albums

Monster deserved to be the 4th and final single. DITD is amazing but not single material imo. For curiosity, the song has the lowest streams on TFM.
