Just finished hearing the soundtrack and here's my take on it (that no one asked for ) Spoiler Part of Your World: 10/10 Amazing... Easily a classic and I love how Halle made it her own... Those VOCALS! Fathoms Below: 7/10 I think I like this version a lot better than the classic movie tbh The whole feeling you get with the soundtrack version... Like, an audio book tbh! Part of Your World (Reprise) 10/10 The POYW vocals at the beginning omg Halle sounds so sweet and I can't wait to cry while watching this! It sounds so cute! I like that they slowed down the first part! It gives it a lot more romanticism Under The Sea 5/10 Chile... Lemme leave before I get crucified... I love Halle's vocals in this, but I'm not a fan of this Sebastian... Also... Shouldn't there be more fish singing? I don't know... Maybe in the movie it plays out better? I hope my opinion changes when the movie is out! Wild Uncharted Waters 10/10 Prince Eric's song?! Yes please! Also Ariel's vocals in the beginning and throughout the song! They'll always give me chills. Someone had compared the song to that one song from Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar... I don't hear it tbh. Maybe he was talking more about the visuals? I guess we'll see! But so far, I'm in love! It's a beautiful song Poor Unfortunate Souls 8/10 Don't underestimate the importance of body language... Not! I hated that that part was removed and the "That's right... But you'll have your man!". Ma'am... Anyway, Melissa did an amazing job and Ursula will always be an icon Also during the spell... There's a lyric change that says what will happen with Ariel, so I love it For The First Time 9/10 The tropical sound of the song... I love it! I love that we get an insight into what Ariel feels while being a human! Truly a masterpiece! I can only imagine how it will be when we finally get to see it on the big screen! Hurry up May 24th! Kiss The Girl 8/10 The same issue I had with UTS... I feel like there's something missing, but the issue is I just don't know what it is. Maybe the voice? Maybe the instrumental? I do love the bigger inclusion of Scuttle and Flounder! The lyric changes were... ok, I suppose? "Use your words boy, and ask her. If the time is right, then the time is tonight go on and kiss the girl" instad of "There is one way to ask her, it don't take a word, not a single word, go on and kiss the girl". I never saw anything bad with the lyrics, but I guess? At least the second verse was untouched The Scuttlebutt 9/10 I was scared I wouldn't like this and it's so good! Scuttle and Sebastian are hilarious and I can't wait to see this in action, yet again! "FAT PIGEONS!" had me cackling Vanessa's Trick 7/10 What? They did my girl Vanessa so wrong... I can't believe they changed her lyrics to "larara larari larara larara"... What even?! The only reason this is getting a high rating is because of Halle's vocals! Part of Your World (Reprise 2) 11/10 Ok, what even?! This had me getting teary eyes It's so sad and I can't wait to cry to this omg UGH I CAN'T! Easily my favorite Final Thoughts Solid soundtrack! I love the new songs, though a couple of them (Sebastian, I'm looking at you) are quite bland. Overall I hope the movie makes me like it even more!
