Kesha “birthed” her Dr. Luke produced hits

“When she moved back to LA to sign her deal with Gottwald as a teenager, she spent the first few years partying and living the life she would later write about on debut album, Animal. There was a lot of hard work, too, and lots to prove, which is why she won’t allow this entire era to be tarred by what’s happened. “No one should ever take [those songs] away from me because I made them, I incubated them, I birthed them into the world,” she says. “And I sang them for ****ing 15 years, so that’s a part of me.“

She also discussed the meaning behind Gag Order’s title:

““Erm, yeah, after the songs are completed I do have … People do go through it,” she says. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this. I’m always cognisant of the ongoing litigation even when I’m just telling the truth about how I’m feeling. Hence the title of the album.””

Dr. Like would unfortunately get credit still. He helped write the songs and produce them

it kind of sounds like her saying there's no chance of that happening but she wants to make it known that she put her heart and soul into into those songs

As much as I would love her to re-record and release as her own, the reality of this is still a far few years off, unfortunately.

There's nothing I want more than Kesha's freedom and happiness, so to hear her talk about the album that allowed us to fall in love with her, and how much passion she still has for those songs, makes me hopeful that she doesn't feel like they are tarnished, just because of a man.

I'm so proud of her.

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

Animal+Cannibal are such iconic bodies of work, Kesha really was one of the pioneers of the pop resurgence of the 2010’s. Those projects brought so many people joy and till this day are such joyful albums that will make you forget all your worries. Be it that Luke produces them it doesn’t take from the fact that they are unapologetically Kesha and a stamp of her identity.

Warrior on the other hand, half was truly Kesha and the other half was sadly forced by Luke…

Will never happen. It's not an issue of ownership of masters, he will ALWAYS make money off those songs because even if rerecorded, released on a new label and new production from the ground up he still has writing credits. So he would make the same money off those as he does off the current versions of the songs.
