This has been driving me nuts please listen to this song real quick if you have time. Specifically in the chorus when she sings “she got the best of you” and the notes or melody or whatever that her voice makes when she sings that part.

every time I hear it I am reminded of another pop song of some kind and I CANNOT think of what it is. Someone from when I was a kid or something (I was born 1992). I used to listen to a lot of pop back then like Britney, xtina, Avril, Ashlee, aly & aj. Even b*witched and destiny’s child. Lots of female vocalists. Tegan and Sara? I just can’t think of it!! Not saying that it was for sure a female but it might be likely because I rarely listen to male vocalists.

what do you hear when she sings that part? Please participate if you can! What do you hear or what does it remind you of? Thank you!!

I have an update for you regarding this, if you care LOL.  Do you guys remember Myra?? That girl who sings Miracles Happen (when u believe!!)

Sistren.. this isn't the song I'm thinking of. but when I was a lil gay boy I LOVED HER and I made my mom buy her album. You can listen to the album here on YouTube.

These songs are taking me back! Specifically! The song called "Where You At" It sounds so similar to that part of the Tove Lo song!!!!!!

Please listen for the key change at 2:45 and tell me what you think!!!!!

Anyway. idk if ya'll care but here's the song if you want to listen. It's a bop :vegas:

maybe I just have a very untrained ear but I think this is gonna be really hard bc it’s three descending notes so a lot of songs have that element. Is it just that descending line that sounds familiar or is it the rhythm too?

Not the rhythm, just the notes I think!! But maybe a lot of songs do have that. It’s weird because it’s almost like when I try to remember it I hear like someone else singing it like someone like Christiana Milian or something? LOL THIS IS dumb :icega:

In Aguilera's beautiful you get slightly similar notes as in the best of you part of this Tove song.

It's on verses like on now and then".

But you must have it in many songs so it could sounds familiar due to many tracks you heat and  not just one tbh.

I listened to beautiful again and it just didn’t hit that spot! It’s weird how in tove lo’s song those notes evoke such a nostalgic feeling for me it’s so hard to shake and it’s like an unscratchable itch LOL :saladga:

but seriously thank you for helping me and helping me revisit beloved beautiful by xtina :kara:

Really tricky with just 4 notes and even though I consider myself a music obsessive, I can't put my finger on the song you're thinking of.

If we're going really literal, the lyrics and melody is very similar to Best of You by Foo Fighters, and the lyric 'How Long' just makes me think of the Charlie Puth song with the same name.

As for Christina Milian, 'From AM to PM' has a similar-ish chorus?? If you have any other note-inspiration, I'll try and help a bit more

Does it remind you of a song with a continued melody of that?

So from that song (these words are just made up to go along with the melodic structure of it, so read it like that, but continued and annotated in the same melody:

"She got the best of you and all of the things you do"

Because that melody that comes there, it reminded me of a continued melody from another song that I am trying to remember. and those are the words that came to mind (they aren't it, because they aren't providing any results, but those amount of syllables in that melody definitely are it)

Could it be the same song we are thinking of? Does the song it remind you of also have that melody continued to another measure?

ok I continued humming the melody like you mentioned and I feel like I'm getting closer to naming it!!! I can't explain it but I do feel like it continues like that!!!! I'm trying right now to used recognition software by humming the melody but it's not working properly right now. do you have any way to do that? using Shazam or google assistant? apple doesn't seem to have software that does that... lol :awkney:

I know you didn't mention ABBA but the notes really sound similar to those on ABBAs SOS to me or some other ABBA song

Especially in the verses

"I tried to reach for you but you have closed your mind"
