Anyone else still going to wear masks though? It's like a fashion accessory for me now. I'd feel weird without it

I will be wearing my mask still. I'm immunocompromised already so long covid wouldn't be fun as an addition and I've also only gotten sick since wearing them when my brother comes home from college. I hate being sick so even just missing out on the common cold is a win to me

I still wear mine on busy public transport. I genuinely don't mind wearing it even if I'm the only one on my train or tube carriage

I've been masking, and I plan to continue, but I've been wondering lately if I can allow myself to downgrade to the surgical-style masks that we started out with. The KN95s are really not comfortable... although that's probably a sign that they're working. They're also not flattering to my face, frankly. The masks I wore early on were comfortable enough for me to forget that I was wearing them, and I wasn't constantly tugging at them, and they actually kind of looked good, too.

It really is sad that the world was tested with COVID-19, and we failed so ****ing hard from the government(s), health facilities, right down to the every day person.

Earth better PRAY that an even more lethal and contagious virus doesn't emerge, because we're all ****ing done.

Yes, I still do and will. I’ll still keep tests on hand just to be sure. I’ve lately been wearing my mask with the nose exposed but lift it if the other person is wearing theirs too. If they are concerned about their health then I don’t mind being a little considerate. Even if the person doesn’t wear their mask, I cover my mouth when talking if I have my mask.

I had a cough/cold a few weeks ago people at my job got sick at the same time. I didn’t wanna spread those germs to anyone else.

Most of all it’s because I can be low key if I come across someone I know and don’t want to engage. :selena:

I’m masked on an airplane right now. I always used to get sick when flying. Not anymore.

This is all well and good, but I'm seriously hoping the medical community can do something to figure out how to treat/prevent long COVID. As someone who is (hopefully) on the upswing of having dealt with months of debilitating cognitive deficits because of a COVID infection from Dec of 2022, I can safely say I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.

Also: we need to develop a vaccine that lowers overall transmission, otherwise it could easily mutate and evade existing immunity almost entirely. Luckily, there are nasal vaccines being developed in at least the US and Germany that have shown promise in clinical trials, so we *could* truly be moving in the direction of leaving COVID behind us, but we'll have to see.

That cool.
Some people, who can but didn't, are still anti vaxx and a high risk. If this disease on the raise again, I am blaming them. :ororomunroe:

Learned so much from this, on how society reacted, shall we gonna have zombie apocalypse. I am not trusting everyone. Some of these folks would hide their bite marks and say they're healthy. When I see strangers, it's on sight :ororomunroe:

This part!!!!

I always used to think in zombie games or movies "why are the people fighting each other? There's zombies out there!!"

Turns out that's just realistic :anveeroy:
