My main point was its socially not accepted to cuss out public servants, whether its teachers, cops, firefighters, ect. While I think it should be socially acceptable to cuss out public servants whether it’s cops or teachers. I dont know how you could take offense to any of that (unless you believe public servants should be highly respected).

Not sure if you are arrogant or ignorant but you should really stop talking about something you obviously don’t know enough about.

And as a public school teacher, trust me, I do get cussed out. There’s not one day I don’t get cussed out by students for asking them to take their headphones out or to put their phones away during a lesson. The amount of abuse we go though is unreal but we still show up every day to try and make a difference in the lives of our children.

I don’t see anything wrong in what she said.  If you have the option to protect your kids from psychos with guns in America, you’re gonna take it?

Did you not watch the whole video? She’s being rightly ridiculed for saying “F*ck Teachers”, the people like me who literally worry everyday whether they’re going to die at work in a mass shooting and would be the ones defending the children god forbid it ever happened :oprah:

It was such an off the cuff comment though.  If we were discussing the negatives of school (like they were) and someone said to me “f*ck teachers” I’d agree because I also had some terrible teachers.  I also had good ones but in that moment, it seems like a perfectly normal response in the context of the conversation.

If we recorded everything we said in conversation and analysed it we would all find faults or wish we elaborated on points more, like we would in writing, but conversations don’t happen like that.

It’s a whole lot of something over a throwaway comment.

When you say **** teachers or **** cops, you are cussing out public servants, which is why people took offence to it in the first place.

Public servants include any local, state or federal government employee of a government organization. Firefighters, police officers, public health officials, librarians, teachers and volunteers for the Peace Corps all fall in the public sector

Its not like im against teachers! I highly respect teachers, but I also think it should be socially acceptable to say **** teachers in a shallow way. And people personally cussing you out is a different from saying **** teachers.

What are you even saying? It's completely incoherent what point you're even trying to get across anymore.

Are you 15 years old? It’s something normal for a teenager to say but she is a grown as* adult who should know and appreciate all that teachers do for children across the world. That would be like me saying F*ck gay people or F*ck women just because a gay person or a woman was once mean to me. Her privileged as* can pay for a nanny and private homeschooling but what about the vast majority of Americans who rely on teachers to raise their children while they work for a living? We are underpaid, overworked, and put at risk every single day. We are the ones who are there for students when their parents are not. We are the ones who would take a bullet in a mass shooting. We are the ones who help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I’m sorry if you had one or two bad teachers growing up but that is discounting all the countless hours and work put in by all of your other teachers who helped make you who you are today.

And this is what I meant on the first page about this being such a Twitter problem.  We don’t need this level of analysis and emotion over such a silly little throwaway comment :ladyhaha:

This response is literally the joke about someone saying they like oranges and the reply being “what about lemons, are you saying f*ck lemons!?”

Just like the other person on this thread making a fool of themselves, you are obviously either too arrogant or ignorant to understand how Meghan’s comments are a huge issue that feed into this growing right-wing plan of sowing distrust in teachers and dismantling the public education system. If and when Republicans successfully privatize the system for white students and leave little to no public funding to educate black and brown students who can’t afford private schools you’ll wish you hadn’t been so blasé.

I actually said the opposite of that, did you even read my comment?

Please quote where I said cops should be respected
