I think it might mean putting a condom on the bed, but that makes 0 sense. But I could be way off According to urban dictionary 'white glove the bed' can mean ej***ting in your hand and slapping it on your partner OR getting rid of the evidence of a scandalous sexual encounter, like a crime scene detective wearing white gloves. She likes her double ententdres so maybe both "Love is just a history that they may prove" Well the song is about Mary Magdelene and her love for Jesus, so I always just thought she was talking about how their love is now just history, for people of the modern day to try and prove/decipher thousands of years later. Edit: regarding the skeleton guns maybe it's a very personal memory she has and she remembered glancing at skeleton guns during a romantic moment very clearly. And I agree with the take that love is trying to say love can sometimes be seen like a history that people may interpret differently. Edited: It is funny, though. She's a good songwriter (I mean she was originally signed as a songwriter), but a lot of her songs are a bit nonsensical or have words that sound lovely together...but don't make much sense. That said, I can think of other songs that are the same way...in that the words sound poetic but do not make much sense. The lyrics tell a clear story and the grammar is as correct as one could expect in a song. But...for most fans it doesn't seem to resonate as much as her other work despite it being a 'technically' great song. So there's definitely something to be said about the emotional response certain words evoke even if those words are in a lyric that ultimately makes little sense lol.
