I mean if I’m not mistaken she filmed k-12 quick af as it was alongside the album making. I wouldn’t be surprised if she already has a lot of stuff lined up, the stores, who’s gonna do this and that, and all she needs is just the funds. The filming will prob be pretty quick (k-12 was 31 days) and post production takes only a few months as it will not be super labor intensive as big pictures are.

Melanie started editing the movie January 2nd and the movie came out sept 19th. I could say with a team behind her and if all they have to reslly do is start filming they could aim for a December release at the very earliest as a possibility as she liked a few comments discussing that exact idea on tiktok I remember. 
 

if anything it’ll be out Q1 next year for sure, as I’m pretty sure funding will for sure come around soon

I'm listening to Nymphology right now!! Diamonds and rubies, to star in all the movies wears me out...

There are a few factors involved...

- She's in the process of storyboarding right now, which takes time, but once it's done she hopes to start the next step immediately. Remember after that they still need to do casting, set design, costume design, etc before they can even film

- Editing takes a long time and Melanie is very hands on and particular. I also have a feeling from everything she's said that this movie will have a lot of special effects/cgi which takes tiiiiiime

- Funding. It's not common for a record label to fund movies... I think they held off giving her a budget until they saw how well the album is doing. She's probably fighting for more money rn behind the scenes   they cut her budget right back for K-12 and she had to cut the big finale she had planned and cut back the length of it etc. They better damn give her the big budget this time after she debuted at #2 

 

So I'd say definitely not this year. But man I hope it debuts in cinemas this time around! It was such a thrill watching K-12 for the first time in the theatre
