His artistic vision? Ha! More like, fear of being cancelled. Leave the work as it was. It was over 30 years ago. Why are we constantly trying to erase history? It’s not like it’s a racist statue or flag. It’s apart of our evolution.

It has absolutely nothing to do with fear of being cancelled.  Literally it's just changing some phrases to remove harmful biases. Children are better off for it. Anyone who wants the books to remain the same is being gaslit into a fake culture war by conservative media. "This sacred text is being besmirched by liberal wokeness!" Give me a break. This is a non-story, non-issue.

I used to love Goosebumps! I checked out every Goosebump book in our school library. I'm happy they changed it. These changes dont really change the story but the description and minor changes are edited to fit more with the times.

This is a work of fiction. i dont see why original authors cant change their books.

has anyone actually asked for all these famous rewrites? I only ever hear about the outrage after it gets reprinted

I'm really distrutful and think this is all publicity stunts so people run to buy these books before they are "changed forever". Scalpers, people who love classic literature...

No... let's instead focus on educating people to be critical readers and consumers in general. Books are a product of their time, for better or for worse, and they should be treated as such.

In fairness the target audience for these books are 8-12. These are some of the first novels children are actually reading by themselves.

You can’t expect a child to have the same reasoning skills as an adult.

I was about to get excited thinking this was going to be progressive, like his early stuff was insensitive or racist or something.. but this is just stupid :bear:
