Savage 1,783
I'm confused though, it sounds like he is making fun of people who believe that? He said "who is going to believe that crazy stupid idea ..." suggesting that a lot of people believe that crazy stupid idea ... I also feel like SNL wouldn't allow him to say that if the above wasn't the case. If I'm not mistaken, the monologue is collaborative between the guest and the writers. I've had people who I consider well educated and having common sense send me something because they're outraged by it. When I look at it though, they either are missing something entirely or just misconstruing what the point is. I appreciate the advantages social media/the internet has given me, but everyday I get closer to thinking it wasn't meant to be used by the masses. What he's talking about is a movie script he passed on. The monologue was little weird but I don't think he went "anti-vax". He just was being a comedian. It’s pretty obvious there is no script. He is using it as fake vehicle to actually say his opinion on SNL, couched in a joke, but still managing to get his conspiracy theory out there. I’m not saying he adlibbed this monologue. I’m saying that when he’s talking about a “script” about drug companies etc, he’s really just talking about his own theories about what’s happening with drug companies, but he knows coming right out and saying he believes these theories would be inflammatory, he is ascribing them to a “script”. MOT 3,080
It doesn't work as a joke unless he's describing something that actually happened..... and he isn't. What he's describing is fiction. He is broadcasting covid conspiracy theory bs disguised as a joke.
